Windows 8 is Stuck in high contrast mode

I just installed my new Windows 8 couple of days back and accidentally turned the high contrast mode. Now whatever I do I can not go back? Is anyone else having the same trouble? When I go to PC settings it lets me change the ON/OFF setting, the slider bar, but nothing happens.

I re-booted several times, changes those PC settings those many times but zilch! it is stuck in high contrast mode.

What should I do? any help/guidance would be much appreciated.

I have come up with a solution to your problem.  I accidently clicked and turned on high contrast.  When I clicked to turn it off, nothing changed.  I went online to chat with an online Microsoft representative.  A man remotely controlled my computer to fix the problem.  I know what to do.  Go to your start page, then click on desktop.  Once you get to your desktop, RIGHT CLICK on the screen.  A small box will open to the right of the pointer.  Click on PERSONALIZE.  Then click on the WINDOWS theme under the 3 default windows themes.  You will click on the one with the flower on it.  This will turn off you high contrast

    Click to Change PC Setting, then click Ease of Access, then turn off High Contrast.........

    The problem is that nothing happens when you press the turn off button/slide.

    Wow.  Can I just say this problem brings back memories of Windows 3.x or 95 with incompatible video cards and trying to get resolution to be something other than insanely large.  And that it was the worst experience I've had with the windows OS in the last ten years. And that it's an hour of my life I'd love to get back.

    Don't know how High Contrast got switched on, apparently it can be done with a keystroke set or by answering "yes" to some dumb question on the main sign-on page. 

    Thank you to NathanMcCloskey for posting your answer, because it was truly helpful, however in an effort to keep things as SIMPLE as possible for the end-user, we had removed the "desktop" icon from the start page.  So getting to the point of following your instructions was a bit more difficult. 

    In the event that "desktop" is not an icon on the Start page, you need to Right-click anywhere on the start page, then a taskbar will appear at the bottom of the screen.  On that taskbar is a button for "All Apps."  Click that button in order to go to what resembles something like a control panel, with icons representing applications.  On that page appears an icon for "Desktop."  Click that icon, and you're finally to the point where you can right-click the page and choose "Personalize" as NathanMcCloskey wrote up.
