what is runtime broker, and why does it use so much memory?

in task manager there is process called Runtime Broker. and it uses over 600 MB of my ram. putting my average usage at 60% on my 4 gig laptop. not noticed any performance issues yet. just a lot memory being used. makes me think of windows vista almost bc it had same issue in past. it would use all system resources.

    See later posts - Do you have "The Time" app installed? If so, get rid of it and your problems will be over!

    Yep! My bad--- I missed the replies. I did have that time app installed. Uninstalled, rebooted, and now life is good again. You guys are my heroes.

    Hi Sunny, I'm no expert either but if you have found another rogue app then maybe Microsoft need to take a look at why this is happening. What does the app RenRen do?

    It's a kind of social app. RenRen in China is just like Facebook in everywhere else, and this RenRen app is just a client of it. One of the feature of this app is that, it will communicate through internet to its server all the time when it's running.  I'm wondering if it's the issue and if Windows can handle it better.

    I had the same problem with "The Time" app. I noticed the author Jeff Key submitted a fix on the memory leak on Nov 2, but said Microsoft has a 5-7 day turn around to include the update. It may be the end of the week before the software fix is posted.
