what is runtime broker, and why does it use so much memory?

in task manager there is process called Runtime Broker. and it uses over 600 MB of my ram. putting my average usage at 60% on my 4 gig laptop. not noticed any performance issues yet. just a lot memory being used. makes me think of windows vista almost bc it had same issue in past. it would use all system resources.

    I have the same problem, in windows 10. I think it is a combination of Intel and Geforce.

    I have multiple configurations (win 10 - 7 systems) and it only ocure when this 2 are in combination.

    I am pretty sure the bug is in the broker not in the apps. Closing the apps SHOULD release the memory, but it doesn't.

    Same for me. All updates, and Runtime broker still switches on every hour or so, until I'm going to shut it down. Then the game restarts again...

    This is really awful, annoying.

    I have also posted this in the feedback app, but MS doesn't seem to do anything about it.

    Unfortunately, I too have all the latest updates as of Dec 31st. And they have made no difference at all.

    What I don't understand is how a problem that started up back on October 28th 2012   in Windows 8 is still being discussed 3 years later, and using Windows 10 (you know, the operating system that was supposed to be the best tested ever.) . Microsoft seem to have done nothing to help elevate this rather serious issue.

    Microsoft, if you really want your loyal customers to move and investigate alternative OS's your doing a mighty fine job.
