what is runtime broker, and why does it use so much memory?

i couldnt understand from your post the Word "you" is prular or singular so i want to explain that i dont agree with edwindwight. I surely can understand your explanations technically and approve that ill keep posting as i find any other software causes this problem in what way  thats all i can help right now.

Re. MSFN. I just checked it out and the site doesn't seem to have been updated for the last three months - not really what I am looking for in a tech news site thanks.

 

Windows 8 went on sale October 26th and MSFN's last news article was on August 24th! Are they all asleep?

The website is not asleep but quite wide awake and writing code while others answer forums and sleep.MSFN is a forum too and useful information  for all programers and users can be found in archives from the last 5 years.i'll find a code programmer to fix the runtime issue so we all won't lose any more precious time watching our memory-ram skyrocket.thanks, for new information i'll render it to some proficient experts.

Sorry, but your views on memory usage are not 'true', they are ridiculous. You think that if you are running applications that require more RAM than is installed on your machine that the machine will crash...this illustrates a lack of understanding re. Windows and page files.

I am not disputing that you may have experienced problems on your PCs but apart from the one memory issue (which this thread is supposed to be about by the way - it's not supposed to be a platform for people to **** about Windows 8), I have had no problems since upgrading.

Applications usage of RAM will absolutely not damage it in any way. I suggest you study harder if you are still learning.

i am still learning, but my views and experiences are true about memory usage and cpu overheats and causes problems on older computers(2006-2010).i test apps daily and agree that win8 is great but not as smooth as win7.touch is new and it works on tablets and laptops ,but the system needs a different interface for desktop computers,please :}i agree with Ahmet comment;thank you.

last week all nights passed with trying to learn win 8 , so i installed many apps , tried many drivers  for my hardware and installed all my standart casual dektop softwares if there are some problems with them to decide immadiate switch to win 8 or to stay on win 7  till the sp1 is out there for win 8.

At least 5 others applications show the same problem. and a couple of them uses much more memory than win7. and after shuttin down a software either app or desktop one they release the momry back maybe 20 30 seconds later than win 7 does.

never seen a bsod but 3 times Windows shut down all the Windows both in desktop and metro. all desktop become black except a Mouse pointer and right click menus and it never responded to ctrl alt del , or shutdown button , so i forcedly shut down my computer

so i decideed to keep win 8 on my laptop which is connected to a big plasma tv  and win 8 is great with this type of computing. but its not ready for desktop yet.

at first sight i was fascinated by the new os but , Microsoft is still Microsoft , animation glitches  memory problems, the still unfixed and even worse and more  translation mistakes in my language turkish...  

its been 20 years since i first met Microsoft, i was a child then and now a proffesor in medicine i even changed a lot but ms ? ?  still cant make an os a little bit bug free ? ??  !!!
