Windows 8 PC Reset. Taking toooo long.

ARE YOU KIDDING... I am a technician (25 plus years), working with a company out of Florida nowadays, working in Dallas, and I had a customer that forget their WINDOWS 8 password. BIG MISTAKE... After trying different things, like plugging in the drive to another computer, and renaming the UTILMAN.exe to UTILMAN.old, and then copying the CMD.EXE to UTILMAN.EXE... so that I could open up the DOS PROMPT and use the NET USE command to reset the password... This never did work, so I decided to do a RESET PC... Here it is going on 4 hours, and it finally reached 50%...

I am reading that some PC are taking up to 48 hours to do this... ARE YOU KIDDING...

I did buy a Windows 8.0 laptop, but after this experience...

My Windows 8 laptop is doing great at "THIS" point,

but GOD (or ALLAH, if you prefer, or BUDDHA, or whatever damn religion you practice) forbid,

if I have a problem on it.

Seems to me "I MIGHT BE BETTER OFF" with my laptop, if I just buy a new Hard Drive,

buy a copy if Windows 7, and, if I can find the drivers for the laptop, just install 7 on it.

NEVER NEVER NEVER BUY A WINDOWS 8 PC... Talk about a NITEMARE...

This is worse that VISTA EVER WAS...

This is starting to sound like OBAMACARE

The only way I will ever do WINDOWS 8 in the future is in a VIRTUAL MACHINE.

This way, you can "DELETE" the ENTIRE program, when you are FRUSTRATED WITH IT!!!

My desktop is WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE... IT IS GREAT. Only way to go nowadays, unless you wanna go

with LINUX and run WINDOWS # in a VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT...

WINDOWS 8.whatever SUCKS BIG TIME, until they come out with a SERVICE PACK that fixes all this crapola.

By that time, we will be on WINDOWS 11.0, and waiting for SERVICE PACKS, THAT FIX ITS GLITCHES

I am so glad I've found all of these replies and things which means I am not alone. Ok so apparently it takes 6.5 hours? Oh great...but anything to get rid of these viruses I have! I advice you NOT to download anything of the internet for free..for example, I was trying to download iCloud,got it off a different site than Apple. Now thinking about it how stupid was that? Anyway it told me it was virus free,well that was sort of a trick,iCloud was virus free but the things that were secretly downloaded onto my PC weren't. All of a sudden I had lots of different things popping up and my virus blocker going crazy! I had 1257 viruses! But the biggest threat I could find had to be a search engine called Speed dial. If this pops up,I can tell you that you've most probably got a virus. I was so scared but you have to do what you guys did. Guess I'm gonna have to wait 6.5 hours! 95% to go!

This is why you should move back to Windows 7. Windows 8 is nothing but a problem for the majority of my clients. My number one service in my shop is to remove Windows 8 and install Windows 7.

After 5 hours on a NEW laptop (i7, 8GB DDR, 1TB HDD), the Windows 8 reset is sitting at 44%. I can install and update Windows 7 on 8 machines in that time.

Luckily, Windows Vista and 7 are still supported.

Lets hope Windows 9 will be much better. If not, I'm leaving all my companies computers on Windows 7 where we have not had an issue.

your entitled to your opinion but, it is a shame your custom don't get a fair opinion when they come to you. Me and a lot of people ( betting we are the Majority) love Windows 8.0/8.1and wouldn't go back to 7 if you paid us. Your just like all the other Microsoft Bashers and as long as it is made by Microsoft you would rather die then say anything good.
