Now I understand this will take a long time but I did NOT plan for it to take this long. When I upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 8 the format and upgrade only took 15 minutes. I was having some pc issues and said Hey! How about I use this new reset feature and start over again. WORST MISTAKE EVER! I have no clue what this is doing but this is taking forever. So far this thing moves up 6% every hour. It's been 3 hours now and it's still on 16% Can you all tell me what is this thing doing or is this some sort of error? My hard-drive size is 1TB clean and around 900gb when a OS is installed.

Just hang in there. Mine took 11 hours .. I left it overnight. Everything was done around 11 am ...

Some have spent 48 hours ... don't be alarmed.. it is normal but nailbiting; unfortunately.

Nothing will happen to your pc. Do not power off or try to restart. leave it alone

Even though it reads 16% after 6 hours .. it sometime skip about 5 - 10% in some hours .... stop starring at it .... LOL ... -:)

go about your business ... it will be OK

I am having the same problem with Windows 8 reset taking forever.  I purchased a new Dell 660 and tried the feature out just to see how it worked before I set the PC up to my liking.  The REFRESH option took all of 5 minutes.  The RESET option is currently at 16% and it been going for 8+ hrs!!! WTF is going on there?? Its progressing but oh so slow.  This PC does have a 3TB HDD so I assumed it would take a while but at this rate its going to take 3 days!

No .. it will be fine ... MS is just giving us ETA's that are not realistic. Some are expreincing up to 6 - 9 hours of PC Resetting. Started mine on my HP TouchSmart 320 All-In-One PC .... It's been 20 mins. @ 29% so far. It has been moving a percantge every 8-10 munites after it used only 5 munites to reach 27%. I hope it would be complete by 4am-6am .. it sucks but there is nothing wrong with the your pc or the software ... hang in there!    -:)

Well, I believe that if you choose the quick reset option, it wipes everything and resets to factory settings. If you choose the full reset, it does all of the above but then checks each drive for errors and then scrambles the data makeup on it. So that's what takes so long. But in my experience, Windows will successfully complete most formatting tasks, even if it takes hours.
