Windows 8 PC Reset. Taking toooo long.

Now I understand this will take a long time but I did NOT plan for it to take this long. When I upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 8 the format and upgrade only took 15 minutes. I was having some pc issues and said Hey! How about I use this new reset feature and start over again. WORST MISTAKE EVER! I have no clue what this is doing but this is taking forever. So far this thing moves up 6% every hour. It's been 3 hours now and it's still on 16% Can you all tell me what is this thing doing or is this some sort of error? My hard-drive size is 1TB clean and around 900gb when a OS is installed.

    Really... why is this taking so long? I got the "upgrade offer" last October in my email and when I purchased the Key, downloaded the ISO, burn to disc and performed the upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8, it took less than one hour to do all that. A couple of month later, I had to upgraded hard drive, when I tried to install Windows 8 from scratch onto the new HHD, I was prompted by an onscreen message that my Key can only for an upgrade installation. So, I decided to install Windows 7 then perform the Windows 8 update, worked well and took about two hours to complete all that.

    Yesterday I ran into some problems again and decide to try the reset function because I thought two hours is way too long for me... What the **** was I thinking... it is been five hours and some minutes and now the PC resetting is at 60%. If I'd known it was going to this long, I would have done the Windows 7 installation then the Windows 8 Upgrade. Microsoft, I love Windows dearly but the problems and lack of help from you is giving me reason to switch to another operating system.

    i m also having same problem ......is that reset function really helps i hav genuin win 8 default with my new asus vivo touch screen ......i dnt hav any dvd of win 8 or nt any key ............its 3 hrs bt still in 12% god help mi

    It's ok the reset takes a **** of a long time unfortunately we all have to wait mine should be done by now but from what I can tell it goes thru various steps and % that takes forever before I went to sleep around 2am I was at 47% thinking by 10ish it should be complete ....... That was a big no I checked an it was at 37% so I figure it either scans first deletes resets and then checks for errors which would explain the wait but I do know even on 7 a full reset would only take 45 min max

    I bought a brand new laptop yesterday. First, the first installation of Windows 8 did not work; on reinstalling I had to add a new user name. Finally after a few restarts the password that worked a few times, all of a sudden was not accepted anymore. Contacted the help desk of the laptop brand and was told that the only way (if I didn't have a reset password disk - make sure you create one as soon as you log on to windows successfully) was to reset the machine and that it would take aproximately 45 minutes. It started about 4 hours ago and it's now on 28%!!
