Windows 8 PC Reset. Taking toooo long.

Now I understand this will take a long time but I did NOT plan for it to take this long. When I upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 8 the format and upgrade only took 15 minutes. I was having some pc issues and said Hey! How about I use this new reset feature and start over again. WORST MISTAKE EVER! I have no clue what this is doing but this is taking forever. So far this thing moves up 6% every hour. It's been 3 hours now and it's still on 16% Can you all tell me what is this thing doing or is this some sort of error? My hard-drive size is 1TB clean and around 900gb when a OS is installed.

Have same problem... go 7% per hour. Now it is 22%!! I make a huge mistake when I click on BIG "full reset" BOTTON!!! Any one could tell me how long does it take?? and is it true that it will speed up at last?

Just hang in there. Mine took 11 hours ... before I even saw 12% I left it overnight. Everything was done around 11 am ... the next morning

Some have spent 48 hours ... don't be alarmed.. it is normal but nail-biting; unfortunately.

Nothing will happen to your pc. Do not power off or try to restart. Leave it alone

    .... stop starring at it .... LOL ... -:)

go about your business ... it will be OK .. it happened to all of us on this thread.

Worst case scenario ... 48 hours ...  or if you are lucky by 12 noon - 6pm of 2nd January .. it will be done ....

And hey, resetting was a good idea ... it  gives you; technically, a brand new pc.

It's now 5 years from the date of this seed post. I am resetting my Dell XPS 15, Windows 10, and nothing seems to have improved in all that time.

I ask myself, "What possible algorithm are they running?" Is it trying to determine what data is mine? Is it inventorying everything on my hard drive for some obscure purpose?

I have to go back to Linux.

Doesn't look like you've asked any questions on this post. So sorry for your confusion. What is your question? Here is the answer I gave to this posts question on Nov. 3.

Mine was really slow until 30% or so. It took about 5 or 5 1/2 hours. Then it spead up. Total reset took 6.5 hours. Just let it go, it sucks but it will do it's own thing and it will do it right.

Hope that answers whatever question you had. Err, both of them.

Thank you for taking the time to answer his/her questions. I just started my reset and I became nervous after it refused to move past 1 percent over the course of 20 minutes. This feed has made me feel better... I am now aware it's normal to take forever. I can wait :)

As for the person complaining they didn't get their questions answered- did you even read the feed? Multiple people shared their experience with you.

I will update this post with how long it takes mine.
