Now I understand this will take a long time but I did NOT plan for it to take this long. When I upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 8 the format and upgrade only took 15 minutes. I was having some pc issues and said Hey! How about I use this new reset feature and start over again. WORST MISTAKE EVER! I have no clue what this is doing but this is taking forever. So far this thing moves up 6% every hour. It's been 3 hours now and it's still on 16% Can you all tell me what is this thing doing or is this some sort of error? My hard-drive size is 1TB clean and around 900gb when a OS is installed.

Had a problem where the laptop could no find the dvd drive. Rang PC World Know How, told me to reset to factory state, should not take long. About 9 hours later the reset finished. That was using the rest on the HD not disc! The laptop is HP Pavillion g6-2241, 6GB RAM, 750GB HD, AMD Dual-Core E2-1800-1.7 GHz

Guess what? MS said the resetting process will only take less 30 minutes. We're pretty much **** by this new feature.

Just hang in there. Mine took 11 hours .. I left it overnight. Everything was done around 11 am ...

Some have spent 48 hours ... don't be alarmed.. it is normal but nailbiting; unfortunately.

Nothing will happen to your pc. Do not power off or try to restart. leave it alone

Even though it reads 16% after 6 hours .. it sometime skip about 5 - 10% in some hours .... stop starring at it .... LOL ... -:)

go about your business ... it will be OK

Doesn't look like you've asked any questions on this post. So sorry for your confusion. What is your question? Here is the answer I gave to this posts question on Nov. 3.

Mine was really slow until 30% or so. It took about 5 or 5 1/2 hours. Then it spead up. Total reset took 6.5 hours. Just let it go, it sucks but it will do it's own thing and it will do it right.

Hope that answers whatever question you had. Err, both of them.

No I didn't ask a question, when I first posted this I was really just frustrated and was trying to see if I was the only one that had this issue. I just was nothing there was never any real explanation as to why the reset took so long. I seen the comments of all who had experienced it but not any facts as to why. My comment about not much help was mainly on another post I had made (I guess I should have posted it there, but might not have been seen). I did get answer, but it couldn't help me and I needed further help and posted by its been a few days and no reply. I've contacted HP and issues still exists. So I was venting more than anything, sorry! I didn't mean it to disrespect anyone just a observation (in my opinion!!). Thanks!
