Hi RobbieCharles,

If you take a look in the Store, there are several Chess games available there.

You can go to your Start screen by either clicking in the bottom left hand corner or pressing the Windows key, then go to the Store app.

Once in the Store, you can then search for apps by pressing Windows key + C and click Search in the Charms bar, and search for Chess games from there.

Hope this helps!

The Windows 7 games are gone from Windows 8. However you can get them from a Windows 7 machine. To find out how, go to http://www.howtogeek.com/122145/what-happened-to-solitaire-and-minesweeper-in-windows-8/ and scroll about halfway down the page.

That said, as far as I'm concerned, Chess Titans is a poor program and easy to beat. If you like to play chess, you might want to buy one of the better programs; I recommend Fritz and Rybka. They both play *much* better than Chess Titans.

    So what's going on here?

I got my new laptop with a frustrating exasperating Windows 8 running....

But can we still call it " Windows" ?? where are the Windows, by the way?

And what the **** are all those useless apps are doing here polluting my interface and making me waste time?

This "Windows" was designed for the stupid who doesn't need to really use a pc.

Thanks to a few brave souls, I am now running this operating system with a NORMAL interface.

Would be a good idea for Microsoft to revise their entire strategy and design. Fire all the stupid working there, bring back developers and engineers who know what a pc MUST look like and WHAT it must give the user.

I resent your attitude and your calling me stupid. I am far from stupid and use Windows 8 Pro just like Microsoft sold it and am looking forward to the release of 8.1 Pro and I use may computer for my small business and for the volunteer work I do. I have been using Windows for 23 years now and find Windows 8 a refreshing experience. If you spent half as much time learning how to use it you probably would be an expert by now. If you are so unhappy uninstall Windows 8 and install Linux or better buy and mac and then you can b**** to www.apple.com . Hope this helps and if you need further assistance post and we will be glad to assist you.

Silverback you take this much too personally. Yes, most people seem to be ok with win8, but I do not like it for desktop use, I feel I have had one of my mouse buttons removed.

I am happier on my other 2 computers running win7 pro. -Win8 locks on me - not stable at all. The interface would be fine on a tablet I suppose, but they run RT, so why the downgrade?  I am not happy having to sign in to my windows account all the time.

My son has been trying for years to get us to switch to the mac, but I simply do not have the patience to learn a new interface. Oh wait - I forgot about this PC with win8.
