Hi RobbieCharles,

If you take a look in the Store, there are several Chess games available there.

You can go to your Start screen by either clicking in the bottom left hand corner or pressing the Windows key, then go to the Store app.

Once in the Store, you can then search for apps by pressing Windows key + C and click Search in the Charms bar, and search for Chess games from there.

Hope this helps!

The Windows 7 games are gone from Windows 8. However you can get them from a Windows 7 machine. To find out how, go to http://www.howtogeek.com/122145/what-happened-to-solitaire-and-minesweeper-in-windows-8/ and scroll about halfway down the page.

That said, as far as I'm concerned, Chess Titans is a poor program and easy to beat. If you like to play chess, you might want to buy one of the better programs; I recommend Fritz and Rybka. They both play *much* better than Chess Titans.

During the Win 7 era, I was an avid Chess Titans player--loved the features, the 3-D style...everything. I bought Windows 8 about a year ago and was shocked and totally dejected when I realized Chess Titans was not there. Since that time, I periodically check the Store, and Google this issue, to see if there is any plans for Microsoft bringing it back.

Apparently, the answer is 'no'. I generally really like Microsoft, the products they put out, and am actually an anti-Apple guy--have been for a couple of decades. Windows 8 is quirky in some ways and in other ways its ahead of its time and just takes some getting used to. But I digress...

...Microsoft, please, PLEASE bring back CHESS TITANS!

I totally agree with the last post. I downloaded two alternatives and they were not as good. I also downloaded something else and it did not work. Possibly because I am using the Classic Shell download as I HATE the Win 8 architecture.

Worse yet they downloaded a few extras that I DID NOT WANT!  I ended up Control Paneling them all away. BTW, they also made it much more awkward (hard to find) to use disk fragmenter. One can only hope that the upcoming upgrade might be an improvement.

Microsoft does know how to kill off dynamite programs and send us ever fixable OP systems. One fond program was in Windows 95, perhaps in an upgrade. It was a voice synthesizer. You spoke a message into it and then chose a character, crabby witch, old man, old women, child. etc.  I taped some of those and played them on my answering machine as I was getting so many crank calls.

That too disappeared in Windows 98. Bring back that Chess Titans!
