"The program (VUDesktopToast.exe - System Error) can't start because mfc110u.dll is missing from your computer"

Hi MariaMedeiros,

I tried installing the the mfc110u.dll file (though this file was already in the specific folder in my system, the file had a lightning symbol in yellow color).

Now, after installing the file from the link which you provided, I get another error which says;

"VUDesktopToast.exe - System Error

The program can't start because MSVCR110.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem".

Earlier it was mfc110u.dll.

Kindly advice me on how to eliminate this error,

VU stands for Vaio Update. It is an application that runs in the background looking for driver updates from Sony's support database. Since my model (VGN-TZ150N) is not supported by Sony for Windows 8, I have uninstalled the application altogether.

I recommend you check in Sony's support website if your system is supported and if so, if there is a newer version of Vaio Update, compatible with Windows 8.

1. What make/model computer are you running? Be specific - Sony VAIO E series VPCEB15FG
2. From what operating system, did you upgrade to Windows 8? Windows 7 Pro
3. Did you upgrade using the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant or did you create an ISO to use that method to upgrade? Or did you upgrade from a retail disc? Retail DIsk
4. When do you get the error message? Please give exact details and error message. When VU Desktop Toast .exe wants to run

5. Do you only get the error at startup or does it occur at any other time? Any time
6. Is the error message, a pop-up dialog box? Yes
7. What anti-virus are you running? Windows 8 - nothing else
8. If you have uninstalled your anti-virus did you use the manufacturer removal tool to uninstall? N/A
9. Have you run any registry cleaner either as part of an anti-virus or installed and run separately? If yes, what is the brand name of the registry cleaner? No
10. Please check the event viewer in the system and application logs for any red errors. Then look to see if any errors mention mfc110u.dll or VUDesktopToast.exe. None

The problem with my SONY VAIO notebook VPCEH40EB was resolved as follows:

a) I found the executable VUDesktopToast.exe following this path:

Computer> Local Disk (C :)> Program Files> Sony> VAIO Update

b) I found that really there does not exist the file mfc110u.dll

You must download and install the file.

The steps are these:

1. To download:

2. From what operating system, did you upgrade to Windows 8?----Right after I upgrade my laptop to Windows 8 from Win7 home basic.
3. Did you upgrade using the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant or did you create an ISO to use that method to upgrade? Or did you upgrade from a retail disc?--No,I upgrade on line with Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant. 
4. When do you get the error message? Please give exact details and error message.

A screenshot would be helpful--I get the error after 5 mins of windows start up, sorry,I didn't have a screenshot,maybe next it happens. up
