"The program (VUDesktopToast.exe - System Error) can't start because mfc110u.dll is missing from your computer"

I have just upgraded win 8 from win 7 on my sony vaio laptop. However, now when I start, on the screen it says "The program (VUDesktopToast.exe - System Error) can't start because mfc110u.dll is missing from your computer. Try installing to fix this problem'. So, please let me know how can I fix it?

    It is not a Microsoft problem, it is a Sony problem, they did not provide the driver patches for all of their bloat ware to work.

    Go to "esupport.sony.com", and you now can find the Sony patches for most of your problems.

    "Vaio update" will not work EVEN with their patch, so I suggest you uninstall the vaio care (useless anyway), and then you can uninstall the vaio update.

    i cant uninstall the vaio update because vaio care exists? windows 8 is bullshit, it should never have been released without further testing!!!

    Hi,

    I have had the same problem and after uninstalled the VAIO Update everything goes normal again. Great advise.

    Same issue here...

     

    After some investigation I found that it is the VAIO update application that runs in the background.

     

    For now I uninstalled VAIO Update from "Programs" in the control panel - you can easily get to the Control Panel by clicking the Windows Key + "x" and selecting "Control Panel".

     

    Updates are still possible through the "VAIO Care" application, just the checking and notification of updates will stop functioning.
