"The program (VUDesktopToast.exe - System Error) can't start because mfc110u.dll is missing from your computer"

You must be kidding us, you mean to tell us we have to go through these trial and error process. Are we in a game theory class? Why can't Microsoft make it simpler for the masses? You are talking as if the general public is computer expert

I'm a SONY VAIO Desktop (all in one) user.

1. What make/model computer are you running? -----SONY VPCL21SFX
2. From what operating system, did you upgrade to Windows 8?----Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
3. Did you upgrade using the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant or did you create an ISO to use that method to upgrade? Or did you upgrade from a retail disc?--Retail disc
4. When do you get the error message? Please give exact details and error message.

A screenshot would be helpful--Sorry,I didn't have a screenshot,maybe next it happens.

5. Do you only get the error at startup or does it occur at any other time?-At "Startup" when viewing in "Desktop" or "Start Screen" mode, IT IS INTERMITANT
6. Is the error message, a pop-up dialog box?--Yes,with a red cross.
7. What anti-virus are you running?--Norton Internet Security 2012
8. If you have uninstalled your anti-virus did you use the manufacturer removal tool to uninstall?---N/A
9. Have you run any registry cleaner either as part of an anti-virus or installed and run separately? If yes, what is the brand name of the registry cleaner?--N/A
10. Please check the event viewer in the system and application logs for any red errors. Then look to see if any errors mention mfc110u.dll or VUDesktopToast.exe. My event viewer did not log this error.

Please copy and paste any relevant event viewer errors.

Thanks for your opinion and help.

The missing mfc100u.dll file is preventing me from installing my mobile modem which provides mobility.  I have decided to downgrade to Windows 7 although Windows 8 user interface is better.

Microsoft and SONY will need time to sort the problem with the upgrade. Perhaps a patch is needed to make Windows 8 work.

this problem accurred when that AMD graphic card installed on your sony laptop . upgrade graphic card from vaio update software to win8 .

10. Please check the event viewer in the system and application logs for any red errors. Then look to see if any errors mention mfc110u.dll or VUDesktopToast.exe.

Vaio model is SVS13116FG. 

The error pop ups appear when an application is being installed making the installation to fail.
