Windows 8 is stuck in an automatic repair loop

I managed to fix this problem for myself, but not by any of the mentioned fixes here, so i thought i'd share what i did in the hope that it will help someone.

First of all I had a copy of windows 8 on disc, so this may not solve the issue for everyone but will hopefully at least help a few.

So insert your windows 8 disc, my issue was that I couldn't boot from the disc, no matter what settings I changed it always booted into windows. I can't remember the exact place i went either to do this and to find out i'd have to break my computer again, but i'm sure you'll be able to find out where to go, because basically all we're trying to do is to get a file explorer open.

I think it was something like restore computer to a previous point or something like that, eventually one of the options gives you the option to search for a file to restore your computer from and opens windows explorer. I didn't have a file to restore from, but being able to get into windows explorer provided a way for me to fix this. So, now you're in windows explorer (please post the way you got there for other people if this post helped), instead of looking for the file it mentions, go to "computer", then you should be able to select the disc you inserted with windows 8 on it. Open up the disc to view the files inside and find the "setup" file. instead of double clicking it (as this will attempt to use it as a restore file), right click it and select "open". Make sure you don't close any of the background windows at this point, but go through the options to reinstall windows. You shouldn't lose any of your files as it should put them in a folder called windows.old, or pick the option to reinstall and keep previous files.

There you go, I really hope this helps at least someone as this is quite an annoying issues. i've now installed all windows updates so hopefully i wont get this again. (i didnt have time last time as it happened a bit too soon).

I've got this problem and i only got my computer yesterday. I'm just in the middle of the command line suggestion to see if that works. Just a note, it was after i installed visual studio for windows phone and sql server management studio 2008 install failed. I couldn't connect to the internet and got a message saying my computer had detected and blocked a Trojan. It kept saying i need to fix connection issues by restarting and when i restarted this loop began. Will let you know if the command line thing fixes my issue.

Tried bootrec and it didn't find an os at all. Seems like the partition is locked for some bizarre reason.

Tried using the win 8 installation to reset my PC and got the following message : unable to reset your PC. A required drive partition is missing.

I just bought this pc 2-3 month ago.

I tried bcdedit and it says that the boot manager is on drive c: yet the boot loader is on drive d:.

Is this normal?
