Windows 8 is stuck in an automatic repair loop

Try restoring the system to a previous date..........

It 100% works (worked for me).

For most people who have problems here, it probably will not work. Because right that is their problem!

When I had this automatic repair problem, i -like so many here- managed to come into the repair/restore  options menu. The problem was that for different reasons, none of the options worked. Like me, most people will see that the restoring to previous date option will not work... just because W8 cannot find any stored previous restoration points.  Even though, for sure, W8 had made them automatically before installing updates.

In my case these problems came from the secundary partitions i created on my harddisk, the cause described here one or two pages ago.

After the factory had put a new  image on my SSD and my HD, i only made primary partitions on the HD.  The automatic repair loop didn't occur after i had to do a hard closure (start button) when a program crashed. Actually, the automatic repair worked (nearly) as it should: it ran some time, then finished with a message like that it hadn't been able to repair the problem and I should try a re-install etc (or something thelike). But my computer just started up fine afterwards, and from the log-file I could read that automatic repair had run through a number of checks but didn't encounter anything wrong. So the message should have been different, something 'like no problem found'.

And another time, when i had messed up my profile a bit, I indeed could find some previous restore points, and this also worked fine. But in that case, no automatic repair or BSOD had been involved.

So you can conclude that if the rescue options of W8 work, they may work fine. But unfortunately, they sometimes don't work, e.g. because W8 smells secundary partitions in its territory... And then, often after showing automatic repair loops and/or BSOD's, all rescue-options fail one after another.....

I really wish that I had set up windows 8 to backup the files so I could restore it.  If i get windows 8 out of this automatic repair loop i'm definately going to set up system image restore for every 24 hours.  This is ridiculous, I transferred all my files from my old computer (about 200 gigabytes) which included six months of research and work.  I ordered an external hard drive a couple of days a go and this just happened yesterday!!  Microsoft support said they wouldn't help (well they would for a fee of 99 dollars) because windows 8 came preinstalled on the computer.  I called hp and the lady ran me through all the basic and useless steps.  she said to hold escape while turning on the computer and that brought me to a startup menu.  but in the end i came right back to that blue screen of death.  Don't know what to do!! i'm sort of panicked right now- (besides files i've got a lot of programs like adobe cs6 master collection which i use in my spare time (and cost over two thousand dollars))  i use an hp-pavilion p6-2330 if that helps
