Lumia 800: Speaker problem, no sound.

Hello,

I have encountered a problem with my Nokia Lumia 800.

After I turned the speaker volume down to 0 before I went to bed, the speaker stopped working. I noticed this when I overslept for work because the alarm clock on the phone did not give any sound. I thought maby it was intended when the volume was stillt down to 0 (although it would be silly), but I found out when I had turned the volume up and the phone rang, there was no sound.

It turns out the sound does not work no matter what happens, incoming calls, alarms, playing music, etc.

I have tried to restore phone to factory settings, but with little success ...

Has anyone experienced the same problem? Is it a known software issure or sould I consider the phone defective?

    Ok this may sound cavalier, but I had to use drastic measures as I am too lazy to send my phone away. The problem that I found was the headphone jack was not touching the contacts within it.

    Step one- waste 6 hours tearing the phone down cleaning everything

    Step two- reset (don’t because I lost EVERYTHING and that doesn’t help anything)

    Step three- shove aluminium foil down the jack to try and get contact

    Step four last step- I do not recommend this, I spat saliva down the headphone jack to allow the electrical current to contact the necessary elements………..Worked straight away. (i would recomend contact cleaner)

    Also i forgot to state that according to the diagnostics tool the headset is always connected although nothing is connected

    Hi , i dropped my 800 and i now can't make any phone calls except through a headset or loudspeaker and no music is coming out of the speaker, however the diagnostics tool provided me the info that everything is working fine, the earpiece the loudspeaker. Unfourtently, i am from egypt and the lumia 800 never landed in egypt so i am completly out of support. The nokia care team told me that they can never work on that phone as it is have never been available in egypt. Please provide help as soon as possible

    Hi support staff,

    I have had the same problem for a while now. The earpiece speaker is not working and i have to use speaker to receive calls. It all started after the phone got a small bump when i dropped the phone but then it got fixed by itself after some days. Now it doesnt seem to get fixed again. I have just found the diagnostics tool and when running loopback i can get sound out of the speaker and headset. The earpiece is working but it is difficult to get sound of it. The phone also says that ive got a headset connected and I cant manage to get it to show disconnected even when im using a needle in the jack stick. 

    Im living in Hanoi so can I get it repaired here under the license? I have bought it less than a year ago.
