Lumia 800: Speaker problem, no sound.

Hello,

I have encountered a problem with my Nokia Lumia 800.

After I turned the speaker volume down to 0 before I went to bed, the speaker stopped working. I noticed this when I overslept for work because the alarm clock on the phone did not give any sound. I thought maby it was intended when the volume was stillt down to 0 (although it would be silly), but I found out when I had turned the volume up and the phone rang, there was no sound.

It turns out the sound does not work no matter what happens, incoming calls, alarms, playing music, etc.

I have tried to restore phone to factory settings, but with little success ...

Has anyone experienced the same problem? Is it a known software issure or sould I consider the phone defective?

    I may have found the cause of this weird issue.

    Within diagnostics, my handset is reporting that it's connected to a headset, while it isn't.  If the phone think's it has a headset then it's logical that it would then divert the audio when a call comes through and only reactivate on speakerphone.

    Can anyone else confirm?

    I have experienced the exact same problem with my Lumia 800.

    When recieving a call, the earpiece turns off and the microphone dies.  Switching to speakerphone resolves this issue and the phone works as expected.  However, when the call is ended then the main speaker, earpiece and mic become non functional.

    When running the diagnostic package (just enter ##634# through your phone keypad if you don't have the tile for it) everything works fine and the phone goes back to normal.  Until I receive or make another call.

    As everything physically functions, I this indicates a software issue. However,as I have reset to factory settings and the issue remains I'm a little confused.

    Has there been any advance from Nokia as to what this issue is?  It seems that there are several people effected and a lot of confusion as to whether it's a software or hardware issue.  It would be unfortunate for handsets to be returned when a patch could resolve the issue.

    Just bought a lumia 900 today, and ws having on and off sound problem and now hardly any sound...

    But I have found out that if I press  between the WINDOWS LOGO KEY AND THE SEARCH BUTTON  the sound comes out really good..

    I guess this is a Hardware problem on behalf of Nokia as there is definitely LOOSE CONNECTION.

    Will take it back and see How it goes :(

    I would have hoped they would have sorted it out in the Lumia 900

    Hi,

    After a update of the skydrive software today the sound started working again.... Maby a bug in the skydrive software (that may have been fixed in the newest version, or the update of the software reset the bug...).

    I had the same problem. Two months after I brought it: No sound after listening to the radio on phone with headset. I tried closing the app before unplugging, resetting, formatting to factory settings etc. Nothing worked. Only with headset plugged in sound was on. The phone is now in repair at the store.

    so annoying....
