Cannot connect Nokia Lumia get an error 'MTP USB Device Failed Driver Installation’

if you already solved it that good.

if not this might work because it worked for me :)

unplug your phone usb, then turn your phone off and then plug the usb back on to the computer and then just wait for the phone to start back up and just wait for about 5 min or so, at first it might say fail to install because the phone havent started up probably yet but it should work after your phone go to it home screen. 

if this doesnt work i dont know haha

Hey thanks a mill' jordanp555, your solution worked perfectly. I have exactly the same phone (Nokia Lumia 920) and I kept getting the error message "MTP USB device failed to connect..." and was getting really frustrated that two Windows devices were unable to connect but after a bit of reading here all is ok again. Your asnwer is so simple that I would never have thought of trying it. Perhaps I installed some apps that changed the system settings and therefore needed a reboot but the Windows Phone never tells you to reboot because it continues to work perfectly after every new installation.

I had the same problem with my Lumia 720 and Windows 7 64bit. This solution worked for me. I disconnected and powered off the phone, uninstalled  the MTP device in the device manager then reconnected.
