Cannot connect Nokia Lumia get an error 'MTP USB Device Failed Driver Installation’

I tried to connect my new Nokia Lumia 920 to my PC and get the error message in my title.  After troubleshooting still get a message "MTP USB Devise has a driver problem".  Tried FixIt same thing. Reinstalled driver still get the same message.  Anyone solve this problem?  I have a 64bit machine, Windows 7.

if you already solved it that good.

if not this might work because it worked for me :)

unplug your phone usb, then turn your phone off and then plug the usb back on to the computer and then just wait for the phone to start back up and just wait for about 5 min or so, at first it might say fail to install because the phone havent started up probably yet but it should work after your phone go to it home screen. 

if this doesnt work i dont know haha

thing seem to work when you turn it off and turn it back on haha

    No... I'm trying to connect a Nokia Lumina 920, and it doesn't have any external storage.

    OK, a helpful AT&T support person found this.

    Looks like you need to install the new Windows Phone App.  I found the software at: http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/how-to/wp8/windows-phone-app-for-desktop

    It didn't install a driver.. but it does let my Windows laptop to talk to the phone.

    The solution to this problem was not found anywhere in this thread so I'm going to share what had worked for me. My problem is similar, I would get MTP USB failure; and when looking at the error through Device Manager, I get an error message saying:

    "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

    Just so you know, I have tried EVERYTHING that has been suggested in this thread, incl.:

    1. Uninstalling and reinstalling the MTP USB driver, as well as updating it. I have downloaded the driver from other sites mentioned and tried installing them, but to no avail.
    2. Switching off and on my phone, whilst the device is plugged in, several times.
    3. Updating windows phone software to overcome the problem. But no.
    4. I have tried installing softwares from Zune, WindowsPhoneApp (AppPreview3), Nokia Suite, to Windows Media Player as one person as mentioned - all of which did not work for me.
    5. I have tried also switching USB ports as well as cables.
    6. Updating the .NET framework did not yield any positive results either.

    I may have tried other "solutions" which did not work for me either. But finally I found a thread suggesting that the problem may be due tocomputers with Kaspersky installed on them. THIS was the solution that finally worked for me:

    1. Start > Run > type 'regedit'

    2. **Do a backup of your registry beforehand!**Just go to File > Export

    1. Look for the following registry.

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{EEC5AD98-8080-425F-922A-DABF3DE3F69A} “Upperfilters” = klfltdrv

    1. Remove the Upperfileters setting.
    2. Plug in your device again, the drivers should reinstall itself and you should be able to access your portable device memory as normal.

    MTP  means   multimedia  transfer protocol

    1. two months back  , nokia announced  some connectivity problems in nokia lumia windows phones
