I tried to connect my new Nokia Lumia 920 to my PC and get the error message in my title.  After troubleshooting still get a message "MTP USB Devise has a driver problem".  Tried FixIt same thing. Reinstalled driver still get the same message.  Anyone solve this problem?  I have a 64bit machine, Windows 7.

if you already solved it that good.

if not this might work because it worked for me :)

unplug your phone usb, then turn your phone off and then plug the usb back on to the computer and then just wait for the phone to start back up and just wait for about 5 min or so, at first it might say fail to install because the phone havent started up probably yet but it should work after your phone go to it home screen.

if this doesnt work i dont know haha

thing seem to work when you turn it off and turn it back on haha

I have the same problem.  New laptop, straight from Lenovo, running Windows 7 Enterprise (Service Pack 1).

When I try to reinstall the driver, from the device manager, it says it can't find the driver on the machine.

AT&T doesn't know anything about this.  And I can't find any help on the Nokia site.

Windows sees it as a generic USB device, so I can copy files to/from it's SSD.  But Zune doesn't know anything about it.

    Please help!

    Thanks.

    Rohit,

The manufacturer's link you added is for Zune-era phones (Windows Phone 7/7.5) only. Perhaps you meant a different one?

    Hi Ben,

I can imagine the inconvenience you have experienced. I will definitely try and help you in fixing the issue.

To help you suggest steps to resolve the issue, I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:

    1.       Do you have any security program installed in the computer?

    2.       Have you installed the Nokia software?

    3.       Are you aware of any changes made to the computer prior to the issue?

    Method 1: ****

Disconnect all the external devices (printers, scanner, USB (Universal Serial Bus) drives, etc...)Except mouse and the keyboard and then boot up.

If this corrects the issue then add the devices back one at a time until you discover the piece of hardware causing the issue. Then get any updated drivers\software for the device.

    Method 2:

If you still come across the issue, I suggest you to run Hardware Troubleshooter and then check for the issue.

    Method 3:

If the above step does not help us to diagnose the issue, uninstall the drivers for USB [Universal Serial bus] host controller and restart the computer. Let Windows install the generic drivers and then see if it helps you to fix the issue.

    a) Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, then Device Manager in the search box.‌

    b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    c) Look for the device under USB [Universal Serial bus] host controller, right click on it and select Uninstall.

    d) Reboot the computer.

    e) On reboot, Windows 7 should re-install the drivers automatically.

You may also refer the steps from the manufacture website or contact Nokia for any known issues.

Hope this helps and do let us know if you need further assistance. We will be glad to help.
