Movie Maker 2012 - Black screen on playback
I recently installed Windows Essentials 2012 on my Windows 7 laptop. I went into Movie Maker and tried it out. Unfortunately when I wanted to preview something text or photos I had selected, a black screen appeared in the player. I can add text, music, photos and videos, but when I hit the play button, all I get is a black screen in the player. Is this something other people have experienced? Is there any way to fix this?
Thanks!

Had the same blank screen problem and converted back to Essentials 2011. That didn't work at first either, until I realized I had recently installed a Microsoft update (KB 2670838) which updates Direct3D components among other things. Once I uninstalled that Microsoft update, the 2011 version worked fine again. More info on that update here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2670838?wa=wsignin1.0

2013-03-10T14:30:40+00:00 help i have same problem
I had Windows Essentials 2012 on my Windows 7 laptop. A black screen appeared in the player but there is audio. All I get is a black screen in the player. i uninstalled 2012 and installed 2011 version but still not working. help i need to use WMM asap.
Thanx
RehamAbdel, try this:
- In Start Menu, type Windows Update and open it.
- Click "View update history" on the left.
- Click the "Installed updates" link near the top.
- In the search box (Search Installed Updates in upper right), type KB2670838
- If the results are filtered to one entry with that KB number, right-click it and select Uninstall.
After your restart, if you have WMM 2011 installed, your black screen problem should now be gone.
In my case, I had 2012 installed when I performed the above steps, and then afterward I re-installed 2011. So if the above steps don't work, perhaps try to re-install 2011 again.

2013-03-11T16:41:34+00:00 I uninstalled the Update KB2670838 and removed the actual Nvidia Graphics card driver.
Now i have no Issue with Blackscreen on Videos with 2012 installed. With the actual Graphics card driver i had a lack of performance.
