Nokia Lumia 920 driver error

I wanted to download my music via the phone app since most of my music library does not appear in my phone to download from the cloud (none of my music purchased via CD appears in it), but I encountered this problem:

When I connected my Lumia 920 for the first time to my computer, it did not showed the option to install any drivers. Instead it appears as "RM 820| Nokia Lumia 920" in divices and printers. I tried Troubleshooting but it says "MTP USB device has a driver problem" . I Installed the Windows phone app but it doesnt recogniced the phoen either. Running on Windows 8, 64 bit. HELP!!!

Hello!

My problem is the same.

Lumia 920 is a new phone, the operating system on my laptop Win7 64 bit.

I tried all the solutions proposed earlier, but did not help.

still I get the following error message: RM-821 / Nokia Lumia 920 device driver is not included.

Read the comments on the subject of the problem I think the win 64-bit operating systems features. I do not understand that Microsoft's mobile OS, Microsoft does not provide drivers for why?

Here's what worked for me:

  1. Go to Microsoft Update download catalog page (link works only in IE) http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/home.a
  2. Search for 'Windows Phone WinUSB'
  3. Add the driver to cart and proceed to checkout
  4. Download the file to some directory
  5. Extract downloaded .cab file with eg. Winzip
  6. In Device manager click 'Update driver', 'Browse for sw', search for the directory you extracted the files and click Next.
  7. The "RM-821|Nokia Lumia 920" will be replaced by "Windows Phone WinUSB"

do the same for the second device and there you go."

Just a quick update. i found some advice on the Microsoft forum that suggested that i turned my phone off and on. Yeah right! i thought, but I had the windows phone app running on my mac anc connected my phone and as normal it was not recognised. Then I turned my phone off and on. On restarting the app recognised my phone :) Now i can connect anytime and sync my music etc. Hope this solution helps anyone else having this problem.

    I have a nokia lumia 520. I am having connection problem.

    I have a windows 7 HB laptop.

    when I am plugging my lumia, I am geeting a windows phone in my windows explorer. But inside it, its all empty. The phone is getting charge. I installed a windows phone app for desktop. But it is showing..."your phone is locked". Although I don't have any password. Then I followed your procedure [uninstalled device software, reinstalled it, but no change]. I am fade up with this phone. I should have buy a android instead.

    The solution to this problem was not found anywhere in this thread so I'm going to share what had worked for me. My problem is similar, I would get MTP USB failure; and when looking at the error through Device Manager, I get an error message saying:

    "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

    Just so you know, I have tried EVERYTHING that has been suggested in this thread, incl.:

    1. Uninstalling and reinstalling the MTP USB driver, as well as updating it. I have downloaded the driver from other sites mentioned and tried installing them, but to no avail.
    2. Switching off and on my phone, whilst the device is plugged in, several times.
    3. Updating windows phone software to overcome the problem. But no.
    4. I have tried installing softwares from Zune, WindowsPhoneApp (AppPreview3), Nokia Suite, to Windows Media Player as one person as mentioned - all of which did not work for me.
    5. I have tried also switching USB ports as well as cables.
    6. Updating the .NET framework did not yield any positive results either.

    I may have tried other "solutions" which did not work for me either. But finally I found a thread suggesting that the problem may be due to computers with Kaspersky installed on them. THIS was the solution that finally worked for me:

    1. Start > Run > type 'regedit'
    2. Do a backup of your registry beforehand! Just go to File > Export
    3. Look for the following registry.

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{EEC5AD98-8080-425F-922A-DABF3DE3F69A} “Upperfilters” = klfltdrv

    1. Remove the Upperfileters setting.
    2. Plug in your device again, the drivers should reinstall itself and you should be able to access your portable device memory as normal.
