Nokia Lumia 920 driver error

I wanted to download my music via the phone app since most of my music library does not appear in my phone to download from the cloud (none of my music purchased via CD appears in it), but I encountered this problem:

When I connected my Lumia 920 for the first time to my computer, it did not showed the option to install any drivers. Instead it appears as "RM 820| Nokia Lumia 920" in divices and printers. I tried Troubleshooting but it says "MTP USB device has a driver problem" . I Installed the Windows phone app but it doesnt recogniced the phoen either. Running on Windows 8, 64 bit. HELP!!!

Hello!

My problem is the same.

Lumia 920 is a new phone, the operating system on my laptop Win7 64 bit.

I tried all the solutions proposed earlier, but did not help.

still I get the following error message: RM-821 / Nokia Lumia 920 device driver is not included.

Read the comments on the subject of the problem I think the win 64-bit operating systems features. I do not understand that Microsoft's mobile OS, Microsoft does not provide drivers for why?

Here's what worked for me:

  1. Go to Microsoft Update download catalog page (link works only in IE) http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/home.a
  2. Search for 'Windows Phone WinUSB'
  3. Add the driver to cart and proceed to checkout
  4. Download the file to some directory
  5. Extract downloaded .cab file with eg. Winzip
  6. In Device manager click 'Update driver', 'Browse for sw', search for the directory you extracted the files and click Next.
  7. The "RM-821|Nokia Lumia 920" will be replaced by "Windows Phone WinUSB"

do the same for the second device and there you go."

Just a quick update. i found some advice on the Microsoft forum that suggested that i turned my phone off and on. Yeah right! i thought, but I had the windows phone app running on my mac anc connected my phone and as normal it was not recognised. Then I turned my phone off and on. On restarting the app recognised my phone :) Now i can connect anytime and sync my music etc. Hope this solution helps anyone else having this problem.

    Actually for those that still have no joy here, I have been smashing my head on the desk for a few weeks now. There is something about the phone being off.

    I have got my Lumia 920 to work on my work Windows XP machine.

    Here is what I did.

    In Device Manager I uninstalled the following (with my phone connected via usb)

    (in my case) the two instances of

    Universal Serial Bus devices -> WinUsb Device (NULL) (x2)

    In the Imaging Devices -> Nokia Lumia 920

    in Portable Devices -> MTP Device

    Then I unplugged the phone.

    I turned the phone off using the Button on the side and the swipe down to power off.

    Then I plugged it back into the USB (the phone still turned off) - which I think is the key here.

    Watching Device manager initially found the NOKIA BOOTMGR (Yellow ?) - do nothing let the computer continue.

    Then it found 3 devices in the Universal Serial Bus Controllers.

    They were all Nokia Lumia 920 (with Yellow ? showing)

    However it just continued and installed each ones drivers.

    I did nothing further.

    In the end I was left with

    Portable Devices -> Lumia 920

    Universal Serial Bus devices -> 2x WinUsb Device (NULL)

    The Properties of both the WinUsb Device (NULL) shows that on the General Tab - Location is : Location 0 (RM-821|Nokia Lumia 920)

    Also to note nothing in the Imaging Devices section.

    Now in "My Computer" I can see in the "Other" section Nokia Lumia 920 (Type column:  Mobile Phone)

    I also have to point out that I have tried quite a few driver things, so I cannot say if this would work out the box or not. I do have Zune installed (another attempt to get it working).
