I've already copied the files to a CD btw. And a USB stick
If I may add a little here, the other post are spot on. The 0x07B stop code is the result of not having the SATA controller driver on the Windows disc or it can also result from not having sp2 or sp3. Both scenarios can and will cause the error. I did not
nor will I go back through 6 pages of post only to get to the same solution.
My advice is to start over with the slipstreaming.
Also, regarding your above statement, you cannot simply "copy" the files to the disc. You must create a bootable iso image then burn the iso image to the disc. Forget about using a usb stick. That is a very difficult process to get to work with Xp.
First, if your disc does not contain sp3 then download the stand alone version
HERE. Save the file to your desktop. Do not run it of course.
Second, download the Intel Matrix storage driver from HERE. Again, save the file to your desktop. Right click in a free space on the desktop and choose Create a new folder. Name it Drivers. Now click on the f6flpy3288 folder you just downloaded and extract the files to the new Drivers folder you created.
Next, create a folder on your desktop and name it Windows XP. Copy the files from your current Windows disc to the Windows Xp folder you created on your desktop.
Now open Nlite. Navigate to the Windows XP folder you just created on your desktop. Nlite will take a second to recognize the Windows XP folder.
Click "Next" until you get to the menu where you select the task to perform. Select "Integrate Service Pack", "Drivers" and "Create a Bootable ISO". Click Next.
You will next click "Select" and navigate to the Service Pack 3 you downloaded and saved to the desktop and select it (Open).
The next screen is where you select the drivers to integrate. Click "Insert" > "Single Driver File". Select "Text Mode Driver". Navigate to the drivers folder you created on your desktop where you saved the drivers you downloaded. While holding down the Ctrl
key, left click on each driver one at a time until all are highlighted. Once all are highlighted click Next. You will be prompted if you want to start the process. Of course you select "Yes". The process will begin.
After the process completes the final window will appear. Use the drop down menu under "Mode" to select "Direct Burn". With a blank disc in the cd/dvd drive click "Burn". Allow the process to complete. Boot from the disc and install Windows.
