USB OTG support for lumia series...

There isn't a Yes or No answer to the posed question(s).  The answer to the past has been done to death. No.

The answer to the future depends on the what the manufacturer decides. If the connector is micro-USB then it may or may not support OTG.  If it is USB-C it will not be "OTG" but will likely support all the stuff you want OTG for.

As a point of clarification, I am not 'you guys'. I have no relationship to MS beyond answering questions in this forum as a hobby. MVP is a designation afforded by MS to those they deem have done a reasonable job at that, not an indication of employment. Insider means I signed up on a web site. There are folks in these forums that are employed by MS in some way, to answer technical/use questions. They are not here to provide official PR or insight into corporate visions. It is unlikely they are privy to them in the first place, and actually restricted from commenting unless explicitly allowed. That means what they can say is typically already public record.

All that is to say, you will not hear, "how MS was planning on how to go about conquering the smartphone market again', or 'How are you planning to win us back", here. At least not anything official from MS. MS has Blogs for that.

Sven, that is the long answer Taufik wants a yes or no answer.No need to pound technical terms to end users,what I would have liked to hear was how MS was planing on how to go about conquering the smartphone makert again.How are you planing to win us back as it is clearly seen in market share that you guys screwed up big time,admit it or not.Nokia once held more than 50 % market share with an OS as rudimentary as Symbian,you guys took over and blew it.

My greatest love was the N8,it invented OTG,HDMI,Micro USB, It was the greatest phone ever made after the 3310,those were phones Sven.What went wrong .I am so ashamed of my 1320 I wont show it in public the thing restarts itself a few times a day.

At least stop abandoning projects such as  Astoria,they were the only hope to save us from our embarrassing phones.

The short answer is, depends.

The Lumia series as a whole doesn't support USB-OTG. Those that don't, never will. We've been over that and it is a hardware thing. (whether you believe that or not; isn't going to happen)

As for a chance in the future, that depends a bit on whether you believe there will be more "Lumia"s. (brand name) It also depends on whether you believe the capabilities of USB-C which provide many of the features that make USB-OTG attractive, should be labelled as USB-OTG or not. USB-OTG is a specialized version of USB that can act as a host or client port. The ability to do that is inherent in USB-C, it is not a specialized variant.

The question then becomes if future devices that run Win 10 Mobile will have OTG. That depends on who is making them. That is a feature that may or may not be included if they choose to use a legacy micro (mini?) USB plug.

If the device has a USB-C connector, it should, by default, support all those things you want OTG for, connecting to drives, mouse/keyboard, audio/network dongles, etc. It also supports video which OTG doesn't.
