Shut down issue, Task Host Window appears.

original title:  Shut down of Computer

When I shut the computer down a Task Host Window appears and I have to Force the Shutdown, how do I get rid of the Task Host Window?

If I press Cancel, nothing happens and I have to click on Yes to get the computer to Shut down.

    Hi James, I did some further investigation today on my Computer. Went into Start typed in Taskhost where it says Search programs and files, it showed Programs (1) and underneath it, it showed Taskhost. When I held the mouse over it, it had the following information:-

    File Description: Host Process for Windows Tasks

    Company: Microsoft Corporation

    File Version:  6.1.7601.17514

    Date Created:  11/20/2010  11:29 PM

    Size: 48.0 KB

    I hope this will help with further investigation because that is approximately when the problem started, and to reboot with F8 according to information given according to Bradley Thomas, I need to do a backup first on a External hard drive which I do not have!

    I sincerely hope this will help with investigation from your side because the problem seems to be from Microsoft itself as per information above!

    Hi James, yes the system just hangs with the message forcing me to shut down manually. Even if I click on the Cancel button it does nothing, I have to click on the Force Shut down. I even let the computer hang for a whole day with the message to see if won't solve the problem, but it did not help! I will try the links as suggested by you, and will give you feedback.

    Hello Katharina Jonker,

    Does your system hang when you see this message, forcing you to power it down manually? Please review the link provided by BradleyThomas and Robert above. This is a thread from the Microsoft TechNet forums, where user reported same issue. There are several different methods to try and some have responded with what worked for them. Please let us know status.

    Hi, I had a look at the same questions and some of the answers regarding the problem. I found this one dd Dec 2010 saying:-

    "I have the same problem and downloaded and installed the hotfix.  It did nothing for the problem."

    I don't know if Microsoft Fixit and Hotfix are the same program?

    I still have the Force Shut down problem, and my last Important Update I received from you, was on the 3rd of January 2012.
