Shut down issue, Task Host Window appears.

original title:  Shut down of Computer

When I shut the computer down a Task Host Window appears and I have to Force the Shutdown, how do I get rid of the Task Host Window?

If I press Cancel, nothing happens and I have to click on Yes to get the computer to Shut down.

    looking at the history tab of RACTask in the scheduler reveals this message: 

    Task Scheduler did not launch task "\Microsoft\Windows\RAC\RacTask"  because instance "{355e7baa-8a6f-45bc-81b0-97941849fa32}"  of the same task is already running.

    this has been going on since Feb 27th and here it is March 14.  was there an update from Ms that caused this?

    I tried the KB solution but it would not run.....i suspect because the OS already has SP1 installed.

    any thoughts?

    Guaranteed Solution

    Go to task scheduler, choose microsoft=>RAC, it is triggered every hour, just change trigger, stop the option of running very hour. then go to taskmanager, end the process of "taskhost".

    Hi James,

    I WILL NOT USE MY TIME, ENERGY AND INTERNET MONEY TO INSTALL ANY MORE MICROSOFT UPDATES UNTIL MY PROBLEM HAS BEEN SOLVED.

    I AM REALLY SICK AND TIRED OF THIS PROBLEM NOW, I INSTALLED UPDATES TODAY AND IT IS STILL GIVING ME THE SAME SHUT DOWN PROBLEM.

    AS YOU CAN SEE I AM FEDUP!!!!!

    Hi James, regarding my explanation of 3 March 2012, I realised that I bought the Computer on the 1st of December last year. And the Force Shut down problem started during December sometime, I cannot remember the exact date it started.
