Shut down issue, Task Host Window appears.

original title:  Shut down of Computer

When I shut the computer down a Task Host Window appears and I have to Force the Shutdown, how do I get rid of the Task Host Window?

If I press Cancel, nothing happens and I have to click on Yes to get the computer to Shut down.

    Hi James,

    I WILL NOT USE MY TIME, ENERGY AND INTERNET MONEY TO INSTALL ANY MORE MICROSOFT UPDATES UNTIL MY PROBLEM HAS BEEN SOLVED.

    I AM REALLY SICK AND TIRED OF THIS PROBLEM NOW, I INSTALLED UPDATES TODAY AND IT IS STILL GIVING ME THE SAME SHUT DOWN PROBLEM.

    AS YOU CAN SEE I AM FEDUP!!!!!

    Hi James, regarding my explanation of 3 March 2012, I realised that I bought the Computer on the 1st of December last year. And the Force Shut down problem started during December sometime, I cannot remember the exact date it started.

    Hi James, I did some further investigation today on my Computer. Went into Start typed in Taskhost where it says Search programs and files, it showed Programs (1) and underneath it, it showed Taskhost. When I held the mouse over it, it had the following information:-

    File Description: Host Process for Windows Tasks

    Company: Microsoft Corporation

    File Version:  6.1.7601.17514

    Date Created:  11/20/2010  11:29 PM

    Size: 48.0 KB

    I hope this will help with further investigation because that is approximately when the problem started, and to reboot with F8 according to information given according to Bradley Thomas, I need to do a backup first on a External hard drive which I do not have!

    I sincerely hope this will help with investigation from your side because the problem seems to be from Microsoft itself as per information above!

    Hi James, yes the system just hangs with the message forcing me to shut down manually. Even if I click on the Cancel button it does nothing, I have to click on the Force Shut down. I even let the computer hang for a whole day with the message to see if won't solve the problem, but it did not help! I will try the links as suggested by you, and will give you feedback.
