On-Screen keyboard icon no longer pops up when touch text box

original title: On-Screen keyboard help.

Hello,

I am a Windows 7 Power user. I recently upgraded my Acer Iconia Tab w500 from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 8 Pro. The product works great however previously in Windows 7 whenever in desktop or anywhere that requires a text input, when I click on the text box, a keyboard icon will popup and this will allow me to click it to launch the on screen keyboard, However after the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro, this icon does not appear anymore and I cannot find the settings anywhere to request it to launch OSK on text box. I can however, manually launch it from the taskbar. Please advise.

* OSK auto launches when in metro mode. (e.g.) swipe in from left and click Search. When the text box appears and I click it, OSK launches automatically.

I am unsure if this is a bug in Windows 8 Pro. However I have verified by doing a clean install on Windows 8 too and it has the same issue.

My tablet has 4 points of input.

    That's par for the course... they always pop in give the answer that we've already found which is unacceptable and then never acknowledge our requests to enhance the software.  Remember most of the people who reply to these threads are support tech's and have no power in getting the software changed.  I had another issue with office and a tech popped in suggested a solution and marked it as the solution... I promptly removed that from my thread and said I don't think so, there is no solution for this issue and you are failing to accept that.

    I'm trying to implement touch screens into my work environment and this keyboard lacking in the desktop area is killing me... Never mind the whole metro BS and the constant forcing you to sign in or setup a Microsoft account... These are DOMAIN PC's that are used with company email, I just want the friken desktop.  Windows 8 and 8.1 are simply a joke in the business environment, there needs to be a version with less glitter all over it.

    So a Microsoft rep can pop in with a non answer then leave, letting this thread continue and not actually address the actual issue. **** poor if you ask me. If I could find a nice 10" android tablet with a type cover like the Surface or Venue 11 Pro, I would suffer the Office downgrade I have to deal with in Android for the shortcomings I have with my SRT, mainly usability features like this and the ability to sync my dropbox.

    I can't even stop it from selecting a whole word if I press on it. At least in Android if I press on a word once, it selects the word. If I press aging, it puts my cursor in the word where I pressed. Here I have to press before or after the word and arrow key to where I want it.

    If MS wants to force me down a path, they can go suck it. Removing features and purposefully making things less user friendly to bring about a desired result just crosses the line. And I was seriously eyeing up the ThinkPad 8 coming out. Guess not.

    And just as I see a Windows commercial for their whole unified experience. Guess it doesn't mean a good unified experience.
