Windows 7 update not working

I have tried all the solutions on the forum but i still have the problem of windows 7 update not working.My computer has been shutdown for 6 weeks as i have been away. On startup yesterday th probleme started.

Go into Control Panel >> click on Windows Update item

Click on Change settings (at top left)

under Important updates, click on the down-arrow pull-down

Click on Never check for updates

press OK

Close the Control Panel window

Then Logoff and restart Windows fresh.

When ready, go back into Control Panel >> click on Windows Update item

Click on Change settings (at top left)

under Important updates, click on the down-arrow pull-down

Now make the selection that you need for automatic updates

press OK when done

Close the Control Panel window

Next, do a fresh visit to Windows Update. Kindly advise on results.

If this solves the original issue, kindly click on the MARK It (green) icon.

If this has helped, click on the green Yes (Helpful) icon as appropos

Windows 10 is rubbish.... unless you have a fancy touch screen device, its not worth upgrading.. So gone back to Win 7. Re-installed Win7 (Ultimate), after adding a new SSD to an old laptop, plus memory upgrade to give it new lease of life.

Tried to apply all updates, and it has failed a bunch, wont re-apply them. Sits checking updates for hours, then wont install them, just sits Downloading 0% for DAYS!!!... Tried all fixes, listed here and found on other forums.... NOTHING works.. Facing a reinstall (again).. but I suspect that will do just the same..

Reckon, this is MS way of forcing update to Win10... why else would they give it free..

Don't like the way Win10 forces updates on you, as updates they applied "breaks" old PCs..

Unless they sort this out, this could be the long awaited end to MS .....

MS have released some shockers, but this is up there with the best..

Facing the same problem. Have added a new ssd , did a fresh install of Windows & and tried to update windows running windows update to my surprise to find it not working. So guessing they did disabled windows update deliberately to force people to update to windows 10.

Think about it! It seems that every time Microsoft comes out with a new O/S the old one starts screwing up.

Guys, it's all about money, if you don't buy the new O/S because the old one is working then Bill don't get to be on the Billionaires club

I have a computer repair shop and today we're trying to update 4 different computers with windows 7, two are completely fresh installs, (NO LUCK ON ANY OF THEM) but upgrade to windows 10 and everything starts working.

Strange...........

I'm having the same problem after restoring my Lenovo T500 to it's original (as new) condition by using the System Recovery disks. This is Win 7 Home Premium.

I've tried all the things mentioned in this thread and none of them have worked. The ones that looked promising..... links that took me to a web page with a potential fix..... wouldn't open. The page is blank.... with an ! enclosed in a circle at the top. At this point, I don't know what else to try.

If Microsoft is monitoring this thread...... please tell me how to fix this.
