This has been going on since 2012? well w/ all you geeks out there 4 rewrites 3+ hours on phone hanging doing nothing to fix win. update. Now since they have destroyed all attempts to resolve. I hear this oh just do this or that, well evidently Microsoft knows, THINK THEY CARE? and will THEY STAND BEHIND THERE PRODUCT", Or fix it. what's that tell ya, now the fix?  Can any person be real instead of what I'm sure of, an that is unless you have win. 10 your screwed for thinking that even though your Win. o.s. should be supported? Huh, just change to never update. RIGHT! Here in win. update settings. THATS  BS. that's not happening. its shaded out no possible way . Additional now to what isn't a basic fix, has turned into 3 computers that should run, do not! All have similar issues!  Update and now;  I'm not the administrator??? Well who ever else uses this machine must be invisible! Also, added to that constantly regularly, I get APPCRASH'S LEFT AN RIGHT. So evidently MSE is junk. Or this is a conspiracy. I've ran everything from 3.1 two win. 10. Microsoft is scamin us! So why you-all buying this, controlling waste of cash instead of making them pay attention?  contained myself from opening my door and throwing these in the pool. ive done smashed these phones that are smart?? biggest piece of crap joke if you like having no privacy,& your,"Oh so smart type phones", Cant you folks get a clue? Before us/we have no constitutional rights! Sometimes I cant believe the "American people" where's your common sense? No dam education, or what? ( no I'm not proof reading), I'm pissed! Between the Imports and now privacy?> that you-all signed away w/these dumb phones.< That goggle crap will crash soon and all of you will be screwed! It's just a matter of time, it's 4 real. Watch it happen! Sorry went off there a little. So whats a guy to do? just a basic home computer user. IS IT SO FREAKING HARD TO MAKE SOMETHING BE RIGHT? WHEN THEY DONT HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION BECAUSE WHAT? THEY CAN. OR DO THEY JUST WANT TO BE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE AN TAKE ALL THEY CAN GET AFTER WE HAVE TO PRESS 1 FOR ENGLISH ? NO INOVATION JUST COPY YOUR DICKS IN CRIME INSTEAD OF CREATING.DUH??  Any help out there cause Microsoft's journeys cant fix it, evidently  5 yr's nothing but issues after one another, wasn't that when they started talking Win.10?  MONOPOLY AT IT'S BEST, LIKE YOUR GOVERMENT. JUST BEND OVER, YOU BE LIKIN IT.  WAS SOMETHING WRONG W/XP?

I recently had this on an old Toshiba laptop used by my Granddaughter who was taught never download anything unless you ask me. So there was over 80 updates plus Microsoft Security Essentials needed updating and all the laptop did is get stuck on checking or downloading.  The fix was simple. Go into  c:/windows/software distribution and delete everything in that folder. There were a couple of folders that would not go away because some other programs were still running. So reboot the computer and try again to delete everything. The reboot worked for me and I was able to clear out everything in that folder.  That was the fix. Now updates was working again.
