The suggestion of switch to never check for update, reboot, and turn on again simply doesn't work.

Network connection status show no data traffic when search for updates. All other Internet connections work normally.

No error code, just searching endlessly.

My Windows Update has quit working.  After following your instructions my computer reloaded the same critical 19 updates and failed to update again, I received an error code:  80071A91  windows Update encountered an unknown error

Checking my history my first failure occurred while trying to install KB3100213, but unfortunately that restore point on that date is no longer available.

Do you need more information or does this tell you what I'm needing to do?

March 8, 2016 - Well I finally gave up and did a complete system restore (re-formated the hard drive and re-installed Windows 7)  I made a system image before I did this which turned out to be a waste of time, it would not reload it when I was ready to reinstall my softwares and data.  It took me three days to reinstall and update Windows 7 due to all the patches there were for this OS and believe me it wasn't flawless.  Several times I had to back up to a restore point and download the same files again before all the updates finally downloaded correctly, but I finally got finished.  Reloaded all my software from my CDs and reinstalled all of my pictures, documents, etc. from an external hard drive I use solely for that purpose.  I'm up and running, but what a pain!
