Windows 7 update not working

I have tried all the solutions on the forum but i still have the problem of windows 7 update not working.My computer has been shutdown for 6 weeks as i have been  away. On startup yesterday th probleme  started.

Go into Control Panel >> click on Windows Update item

Click on Change settings (at top left)

under Important updates, click on the down-arrow pull-down

Click on Never check for updates

press OK

Close the Control Panel window

Then Logoff and restart Windows fresh.

When ready, go back into Control Panel >> click on Windows Update item

Click on Change settings (at top left)

under Important updates, click on the down-arrow pull-down

Now make the selection that you need for automatic updates

press OK when done

Close the Control Panel window

Next, do a fresh visit to Windows Update. Kindly advise on results.

If this solves the original issue, kindly click on the MARK It (green) icon.

If this has helped, click on the green Yes  (Helpful) icon as appropos

    Well, I thought that the update function was turned off also, but I'm finding that if you start the update and just let it run, it will eventually complete the update.  It sometimes takes an hour or more for the update to start. 

    Yes, I think Microsoft is doing everything they can to force users to go to Win 10 by frustrating Win 7 & 8 users.  Let me warn those of you who have no intention of installing Win 10.  There's one update that you definitely DO NOT want to install.  That's KB3035583.  If you right click on this update and select "hide", it will not be installed.  But Microsoft is persistent. Even though I've unchecked it for installation and hidden it from the list of updates, Microsoft tries to sneak it in on a subsequent update listing.  Just keep a sharp eye out and check all the update numbers before installing the ones you want.

    My windows update has the circle that spins, like it is going to or is updating.  But the circle never stops spinning.  Thank you in advance Windows 7.  I think this is whay I cant go to windows 10 either. 32 bit.

    Microsoft has "broken, disabled, turned-off" ( Whatever term you want to use ) Updates for Windows 7 on purpose in their continuing effort to try and "Force" people to upgrade to Windows 10.       They "say" Windows 7 Will continue to get updates but in reality it is not working and their response is "it must be your machine"
