Security Updates for KB2518864, KB2572073, KB2633880, KB2656352 try to reinstall repeatedly

Original Title**: Automatic updates for Security Updates for... ...KB2518864, KB2572073, KB2633880, KB2656352 ...KEEP REPEATING AFTER SUCCESSFUL INSTALL**

My system information: Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3

I recently have had Automatic Updates appear for Security Updates for Microsoft .NET Framework... ...KB2518864, KB2572073, KB2633880 and KB2656352.

I click install updates and I watch them install successfully. And then they come right back wanting to install again and again and again. UGH!!

I have read many forums and attempted many fixes, (even the Microsoft Mr. Fixit). I am not too technical and refuse to attempt some of the fixes that had me going and making changes to the registry without knowing exactly what I am doing. I know that making one small mistake in the registry can mess up my enitre system.

I need a simple solution to this annoying problem. Please put the solution in laymen terms for the technically challenged.

As of 10 a.m pacific you shouldn't be getting these updates offered up anymore.

I can confirm that the following Automatic updates reappears.

KB2518864

KB2572073

KB2633880

After installation > Update is finished

Regardless if the computer is restarted, the updates shows up in the tray; click to get new updates, which is the exact same updates already installed

Update history shows that these updates are installed Ok.

So now it's just waiting for a fix , maybe?

My old WinXP desktop/homemade has this problem since I logged on at about 3:30 pacific.

KB2572073, KB2518864, KB2633880.

I tried to update. I found this line of fixes. I tried to uninstall NETs. It left MS NET Framework 3.5 SP1 KB963707 in my Add/Remove. I used dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip several times and KB963707 remains. I'm now trying to be sure I can find the mentioned NET Framework 3.5 download "for users with no NET 1.0 to see if I can rebuild my NETs ignoring KB963707 bits in Add/Remove that insist they're already uninstalled and dotnetfx can't purge. Any input appreciated. I've d/l'd dotnetfx35.exe but it's explanation at the d/l point didn't say it was for users with no NET 1 so I'm leery of just doing an install. I may just jump in and try to do the interactive NET 3.5 install first.

And in my wondering whether or not Net Framework is really needed, the answer is YES & NO. If I ever find enough time to waste, I may try blowing all of it away. But I'd hate to find some of my programs, applications, STUFF, not working and having to hassle to re install all that Net Framework junk AGAIN:
