Security Updates for KB2518864, KB2572073, KB2633880, KB2656352 try to reinstall repeatedly

Original Title**: Automatic updates for Security Updates for...  ...KB2518864, KB2572073, KB2633880, KB2656352  ...KEEP REPEATING AFTER SUCCESSFUL INSTALL**

My system information:  Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3

I recently have had Automatic Updates appear for Security Updates for Microsoft .NET Framework...  ...KB2518864, KB2572073, KB2633880 and KB2656352.

I click install updates and I watch them install successfully.  And then they come right back wanting to install again and again and again.  UGH!!

I have read many forums and attempted many fixes, (even the Microsoft Mr. Fixit).  I am not too technical and refuse to attempt some of the fixes that had me going and making changes to the registry without knowing exactly what I am doing.  I know that making one small mistake in the registry can mess up my enitre system.

I need a simple solution to this annoying problem.  Please put the solution in laymen terms for the technically challenged.

As of 10 a.m pacific you shouldn't be getting these updates offered up anymore.

    Manually invoking Windows Update; selecting 'custom'; then selecting 'Software, optional on the left side;  then installing Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008 x86 (KB2600217);  and installing it - SOLVED THE PROBLEM

    Thanks millions, Jack!  After I wasted 4 hours on the problem this morning, your fix worked.

    I am very pleased that it worked for someone else, also.

    I have same issue as those above.  Have installed the 3 updates on multiple WinXP SP3 and WinServer 2003 units.  All result in repetitive presentation of the same 3 .NET updates.  I have dozens of computers at multiple different sites on which to apply these updates.  JackSwayze method above showed no .NET 4 updates, or any other updates than these 3. Other .Net removal/re-install methods are too onerous.

    This is a Microsoft update package preparation problem.  It is unconscionable to expect companies to spend corrective time on all their units to correct an issue caused by Microsoft's poor due diligence in releasing these updates.  It is unrealistic to expect small, medium and large organizations to expend the time, effort and cost to remove and re-install .Net components to (possibly) solve a Microsoft-caused update issue.

    Microsoft, please respond to these repeating issues in a responsible and ethical manner.  Stop throwing your users under the Redmond bus.  These phantom update issues recur on a somewhat repetitive basis and occur on all versions of the Microsoft operating systems.
