Why would Microsoft remove the beautiful Aero Glass effect and replace it with flat colors and cheesy translucency?

No Aero Glass is an absolute deal breaker for me.  There is no way I'm installing those ugly flat windows on my desktop.  The transparency that is there which lacks blurring is an ugly joke.  On a scale from one to ten of how upset I am over this... I'm like 1000000000 seriously considering buying a Mac out of pure out-of-my-mind crazy spite.  I cannot even express in words how upset I am over this.  There is absolutely zero chance that I will ever install Windows 8 or Blue or any another Windows operating system onto my computer until Aero Glass is returned or something more beautiful is included.

I am not developing a single app for Windows until Glass is added back.  For my next phone... I was considering Windows Phone 8.  I even stopped by and played with one at Verizon the other day.  No glass?  I'm not wasting my time looking for mods.  Windows Blue is going to be very sad, because I am ditching Windows permanently if glass is not added back, like now, like before I have to spend a single additional second trying to find workarounds on the internet.  Yep.  I can feel an Android Phone in my future, and a sudden love for Java, which I currently hate, coming on.  Feels like the incredible .NET is being abandoned too.  Guess I better go submit my resume to Google.

    This sounds like so much collective thinking to me.  You will make your PC look like what Microsoft wants it to look like.  You will assimilate into the Borg.

    Why should I change my taste and style to accommodate a look that's designed for spoiled kids and "hip" grandmas.  If the capability for a look-and-feel is there, let users decide for themselves if they want to use it.

    It's my computer, not Microsoft's.  My HOA doesn't come into my home and tell me what color to paint my walls and what carpet to install (as much as I'm sure they'd love to!).  MS shouldn't tell me what my computer should look like either.

    Also, the argument that the Aero theme is a performance hit is lame.  The degradation is infinitesimal and not noticeable in the least, even for laptop users.  I even heard people argue that we need to remove Aero to save electricity.  Seriously?  I'm surprised no one's mentioned global warming and that we need to get rid of it to "save the polar bears".  (shhhh!  Don't say that too loud!).

    Bottom line.  Aero glass rocks!  The "new" interface looks like Windows 3.1 to me.

    I bloody know right?! Microsoft neo-imperialist, Social Darwinian arrogance against proletariat customers that loved the new style they had materialised from Windows 7 onwards.

    Its quite so pathetic, sycophant, ignorant as well as morbid on their part not to come to the realisation that lots of us still love, moreover forever will love, the transparency effect.

    At the time (Vista, btw, not Windows 7), many claimed that the effect was a waste of screen space and wanted it gone..

    You are using it as a soapbox to launch an attack on Microsoft. There is no heart in your ramblings..

    No, I have tonnes of grievances much bigger than this to Microsoft's elite, however this one was the last stake in all of this.
