Why would Microsoft remove the beautiful Aero Glass effect and replace it with flat colors and cheesy translucency?

The recent new MacOS X Yosemite pretty much copied Win7 and uses transparency EVERYHERE now. Not just the menubar and menus, but in the sidebar and even titlebar of windows. Heck, some windows are almost completely transluscent (a la Windows Media Player once upon a time). Yet battery still lasts 8+ hours. Hmmm.

Aero never really affected battery life. Not even on plain vanilla Intel Graphics.

Sorry Mike Hall. I appreciate your desire to lower resource requirements of the OS, but the performance fear is generally unfounded. Modern hardware is WAY more than capable of aero glass with negligible impact on anything. My 8 year old laptop, which was low end when I bought it with a Pentium M and Intel integrated graphics, ran aero glass without a hitch. Modern PCs are also orders of magnitude more powerful than they were in 2006 when Vista launched. It's been 8 years. I haven't seen a PC ship with less than 4GB of ram in years. To claim that it requires a $10,000 PC to have nice graphics in the OS is rediculous and absurd. We're not playing Crysis 3 at max settings, we're providing a relatively simple guassian blur filter.

On top of all of this, we're requesting a feature that could be turned off since it was featured in Vista. Do you have an issue with unchecking a checkbox in the personalization control panel? It's literally a 3 second task to disable and never see again (and does not use any of those extra resources) while provided thousands of people with a feature they want.

MS would be as bad as the apple troglodytes if they did not listen to the coalface users. Bring back Aero Glass with W10 or continue to loose those of us on the cusp that detest fruit products but need smooth edges and the transparent look as we are on our devices for many hours both at work and at home.

Many hours looking at the 2013 office trial was enough for me; I deleted it and went back to 2010, a far superior product for long term users.

I am a Mac guy. I live by Apple, but I do have a Windows 7 Bootcamp and I refuse to update it to Windows 8 for the same reason. Windows 7 is far more appealing than Windows 8 because of the aero glass and even OS X Yosemite looks far better than Windows 8. It looks like the flat Metro design is here to stay, at least through Windows 10.

No Aero Glass is an absolute deal breaker for me.  There is no way I'm installing those ugly flat windows on my desktop.  The transparency that is there which lacks blurring is an ugly joke.  On a scale from one to ten of how upset I am over this... I'm like 1000000000 seriously considering buying a Mac out of pure out-of-my-mind crazy spite.  I cannot even express in words how upset I am over this.  There is absolutely zero chance that I will ever install Windows 8 or Blue or any another Windows operating system onto my computer until Aero Glass is returned or something more beautiful is included.

I am not developing a single app for Windows until Glass is added back.  For my next phone... I was considering Windows Phone 8.  I even stopped by and played with one at Verizon the other day.  No glass?  I'm not wasting my time looking for mods.  Windows Blue is going to be very sad, because I am ditching Windows permanently if glass is not added back, like now, like before I have to spend a single additional second trying to find workarounds on the internet.  Yep.  I can feel an Android Phone in my future, and a sudden love for Java, which I currently hate, coming on.  Feels like the incredible .NET is being abandoned too.  Guess I better go submit my resume to Google.

I too will not be purchasing further Windows products if Aero is not installed and or able to be set as default for the user.

I spend way too much time on computers not to have it easy on the eye such as Aero does for me and many other co-workers!!

MS really need to consider the user and not go down the ignorant path of those fruity product products.
