How do I create new folders or delete folders that I don’t want in my Mail app?

The Mail app shows the folders that are configured with each mail account. If you need to create, rename, or delete a folder, sign in to the web service for your account, such as Hotmail, and make the changes there. Any changes you make to folders through your accounts’ web interface will be automatically reflected in Mail the next time you sync the account.
May be helpful--I've yet to see. Isn't my (new) Mail account the Windows 10 "MAIL ? In upgrading, I agreed to incorporate a Gmail account: perhaps it's still that? I'll now try to find out. I was unable to do anything about my previously preferred "Account" (Windows Live Mail), as the screen froze on it, and I hade to uninstall.
I'll see whether I can modify Folders in my Gmail.
This is terrible. We should be able to add them when we are reading email. Certainly this is a giant step backwards.
Thank you. I might eventually manage them, but I've given up MAIL, and taken to Mozilla Thunderbird instead, and find it very much more user-friendly. I shall try to unsubscribe to this thread.
Can you explain in simple terms for a silver surfer how to do this in windows 10 ?
