Xbox Wireless receiver is not working on Windows 8 x64

So first of all(before we get to the fix) I just want to explain my hatred towards the idiots that are all around the internet and that equal to 99% of the posts (as almost anyone that has made so here sofar). These people are the disgrace of human race-they are the evil, they should be purged.

They do not give any valuable advice, yet they always try to make it look like you are the problem.

However, all the facts/recommendations/basically all their posts consist OF ONLY COMMON KNOWLEDGE AND STUFF THAT EVERYONE ELSE KNOWS! Google is the next i would like to anihiliate, because they do exactly the same thing, since they changed their algorthyms. They now spew(like the people on the forums-the utmost garbage that wastes your time, and do not provide ANY solutions)

HEY I CANNOT STRESS THIS POINT ENOUGH!!!!!! GOOGLE HAS BEEN INFILTRATED AND NO LONGER GIVES ANY RELEVANT SEARCHES!!!!!!! THIS IS THE KEY POINT WHICH WILL FIX ANY OF YOUR FUTURE PROBLEMS!!!!!! I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGHT!!!!!!

However by pure luck I have yesterday been looking (for other problem-for windows 7, which somehow reappeard-but it worked for a while, but never on Windows 8 64bit!) and FOUND THIS THAT FIXES THE CONTROLLER PROBLEM.

Basically, you need to write into CMD (and f**k you guys who will steal this guide and put it on your websites-i curse you) :

• bcdedit /set testsigning on

IF WRITING THIS INTO CMD DOESN´T WORK - THEN YOU MUST ALSO DISABLE SECURE BOOT ONLY FOR THIS WHILE (in BIOS)

• (which will enable installing unsigned drivers)
• (To write it into command prompt - simply press Windows logo (on keyboar)+R, then write "cmd" (without queotes) and then write
• bcdedit /set testsigning on
• Then install you driver, by going into device manager, right clicking your receiver, navigating to the drivers (BUT TO THE LITTLE FILE!!!!xusb21)inDriver Xbox Wireless Receiver\PC Receiver2.0.3\USB Driver\driver_64\win7

• And it will work - guaranteed! If not you might need to turn of LUA!(YES LUA!!!!)
• And if you want to remove the white thing on the bottom right corner - you need to write bcdedit /set testsigning off

(reenable Secure Boot in BIOS - optional )

• (after you have installed you driver)- but you do not need to turn this off, because there **ARE NO VIRUSES, MICROSOFT IS JUST RUINING OUR LIVES BY IMPLEMENTING RETARDED SECURITY FEATURES, AND BY THE WAY MICROSOFT I KNOW HOW TO MAKE A VIRUS IN 1 MINUTE THAT WILL GRANT ME COMPLETE ACCESS TO ANY PC RUNNING WINDOWS - AND YOU WILL NEVER FIX THIS HOLE, AND EVEN IF YOU WOULD, THERE ARE MILLION OTHER REAL(!!!) of and if you have UEFI windows - then Open Charms Bar-Click Settings - (power) and HOLD SHIFT while clicking Restart(do not let go of shift)  

Advanced Startup (Restart Now)

Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Windows Startup Settings > Restart

Use keyboard and press enter on "Disable Diver Signature Enforcement"  (or use volume up/down and rotation lock to select the option on the Samsung Tablet)

Hi i followed these steps but (step 3) I didnt have an unknown device, it was called xbox 360 peripherals. I updated the driver to the correct one, but it didnt say "not recommended" or whatever, and my controller still wont pair..?

Since this thread is for getting the device to work on Windows 8 I was wondering if there was any advice on getting a third party device to work on WINDOWS 8 (Not Windows 7 which is the guide that keeps being posted)?

Hi, I thought I better sign up in case people are still having problems I was in the same boat but I just managed to work it out and have my receiver running and working on Win 8.

There isn't much to explain really,

1- grab the latest software from here and install it

I used the Windows 7 x64

2- Plug Wireless receiver into USB2 port I'm not 100% sure but I don't think they work with USB3

3- go to control panel > device manager and right click on unknown device then update driver software

4- Click "Browse for driver software on your computer"

5- Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"

6- Then in the left column click Microsoft and it should show a list in the right column scroll all the way down to the bottom and you should see,

Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver For Windows 6.2.9200.16384 [25/7/2012]

7- Highlight that driver and ok/next and it will give you a message saying that it is not recommended or words to that extent, click ok let it install

8- Check in device manager and it should be installed and you should be able to pair your controller with the receiver as you would on Windows 7

9- Now go to the start menu and click the Microsoft Xbox 360 Accessories Status app and check the controller is paired by pressing the guide button.

And that's it I'm sorry if I made it a bit long winded but I thought I might as well cover everything in case someone needs to install one that has never installed one at all before.

I have this post on notify and plenty time on my hands so I will check back to see if anyone still cant install it but I'm pretty sure I've listed all the correct steps.
