Windows 8. App Store can't connect to the Internet, but Internet Explorer works fine from the Desktop. Network Troubleshooter can't find any problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Windows 8 Community!

From your issue description I understand that after installing Windows 8 App store can’t connect to internet. I do understand the inconvenience caused to you. Do not worry; I am here to help you.

I would suggest you to check the Windows Firewall Settings and check if it helps.

a)      Type in Control Panel on the Start Page.

b)      On the left side, click Control Panel.

c)      Click on Windows Firewall.

d)      On the left pane, click on "Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall".

e)      Under the Allowed apps and features, look for Store.

f)       Make sure you have a click in Private and or Public.

Then see if you can open the Windows Store.

If you have a 3rd party Firewall, you may need to change the settings to allow the app thru the Firewall.

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you are done. If you are connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Well I found out why my apps didn't connect even though my desktop programs connected just fine.

    my problem was due to installing proxifier.

    I installed proxifier's newest update and uninstalled it and now everything works just fine.

    for those who want their apps to connect to internet through vpn, there is a Hot fix that Microsoft has provided which solves the problem.

    Same problem. I do not have any 3rd party antivirus, firewall, or other products like that installed. I did a clean install of win8 not an update from 7. Aside from trying this with my Live account I have created a local user and tried logging onto that. I still can't log onto the App store.  This is a desktop machine with an I5 processor and 8gig of ram. All internet functions work fine including Office 365 and Skydrive. I have moved my user folders to my D drive to get them off of my smaller SSD using the cut and paste method. Since the Apps page is the much touted new feature in Win8 why is this so hard to get answer on how to make them work. 

    btw - When I log in to my Live account on my Win8 laptop the apps and store work correctly. So there doesn't appear to be a problem with my account.

    Despite above steps MS Store cannot connect tot the internet, but working fine elsewhere in Windows 8
