Hi EricHalliwell,

Welcome to the Windows 8 Community!

From your issue description I understand that after installing Windows 8 App store can’t connect to internet. I do understand the inconvenience caused to you. Do not worry; I am here to help you.

I would suggest you to check the Windows Firewall Settings and check if it helps.

a)      Type in Control Panel on the Start Page.

b)      On the left side, click Control Panel.

c)      Click on Windows Firewall.

d)      On the left pane, click on "Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall".

e)      Under the Allowed apps and features, look for Store.

f)       Make sure you have a click in Private and or Public.

Then see if you can open the Windows Store.

If you have a 3rd party Firewall, you may need to change the settings to allow the app thru the Firewall.

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you are done. If you are connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Having the same problem myself. I tried doing a fresh restart and it did bring it back for a little while, but now it's gone again and I have no clue why. I did uninstall programs I had on it like avg but nothing helped. I am not in the mood for reinstalling the software again and would like to know a work around this without having to go through all the trouble reinstalling all my software. At least windows 7 had the roll back option when something like this happened.

I've been using Windows 8 since March (when in Consumer Preview mode) and the issue you mention seems to happen a lot more lately. I go through the Store and quite often get a long loading screen and finally a message couldn't connect to the internet error message. Hitting the back button and trying again works, but it is flat out annoying. The Store is the only app that has this problem. Microsoft really needs to fix it. It can't be isolated to my machine since I use the default set-up. It has to be something with the Store.

I get so frustrated using the store before it times out like this for no reason. My connection is perfectly fine.

I am having the same problem except with all my Apps, this started only after I had installed the Norton 360. I have since then uninstalled and re-installed it but nothing has worked. I even let them try and fix it for me through remote user control but nothing works. PLEASE HELP
