Call of duty 4 crashes in Windows 8.

Give me a little more details on what you did, which level the game crashed......if it crashes on startup......error message(s) etc...... (full error message) Tell me everything you experience with the game.........Details please!.......The more details I get the more help I can provide!!!!!

Gravityforce - exactly what happens is this.  Does not matter what COD4 server I enter.  The game will boot without issue.  I enter the game and actually start playing.  It might last 30 seconds...it might last a minute, whatever, but the game simply either shuts down with the iw3mp.exe error OR my screen blanks out and I have to reboot.  As a matter of reference, I can be using one of the Win8 apps...weather...news...etc. and they will crash going to the blank screen, causing a need to reboot.  Other newer games that my son plays, FireFall, League of Legends, also crash to a blank screen.  My computer was completely stable under Vista, any game any other program.  I can run the COD4 on Win7, no issue.  The only thing that has changed is that I mistakenly downgraded to Win8.  It is the most unstable OS I have EVER encountered.

There is no way I can believe that this is a COD4 or PB issue.  Again, COD4 runs under the other versions of Windows.  PB would kick you with a PB error if it screwed up.  It simply is a Win8 OS issue.  I wish I was techie enough to go deeper than that.  If I could get the option from MS to go back to my old OS, I would take it in a heartbeat.  I have rebooted my computer more in the last month since downgrading than I have booted the computer in its entire 3 year life.  Ridiculous.

i have the same issue. my copy is crashing at iw3mp!_l_output +some xxxx offset. the crash is exactly in this routine, on cmp [eax], 0; // eax in this case pointing at kernel area. so first i thought - it would be because of ASLR and static link between CRT and main module. or some misalignment...

i tried to disable aslr by emet3.5 - it wrote it disabled, but idk precisely - is it working correctly with 9200 [64. so after machine restart the error returned again

Sorry its the 3rd time i write here. I correct my self, this does NOT work. Finds out that i was playing on a server without PB..

i stand corectid. the .exe doesent work. now i get the error mesage again.

i still think its windows 8 fault. cod worked on xp/vista/ win 7. but not on win 8 and the win rep on this forum says that we have to report the error to activision. well thats just BS. if cod works on all windows versions except win 8 its clearly a windows problem.

im downgrading back to win 7. i will check this forum frequlently to see if a anser is found.
