I HAVE THE SOLUTION!

Go to Control Panel/System and Security/Action Center

There is a title: "Review recent messages and resolve problems"

Under that I had three warnings. Than I turned everything on.

After that I was able to install .net 3.5 without the 0x800f0922 error code.

Use the

Control Panel | Programs and Features | Turn Windows features on or off.

solution.

I hope it works for everyone with this.

I had the same issue but updating the Group Policy Setting under administrative tab helped...

Refer to Method 2: Configure the Group Policy setting in .. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2734782/

Hope someone can save some time..

This is for anyone else that find this thread. I was able to fix this by running this:

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    from a admin command prompt

once that finished, 3.5 reactivated w/o issue.

Crumbs! - that is a VERY old, much quoted fix! Never worked for me. My definitive fix was - buy a brand new i7 pc with win8 installed. It's heaven - starts up in 15 secs and no NET 3.5 problems. Wasn't going to reveal this - it tends to reinforce what MS want us to believe - keep spending money. But it worked for me. Only cost £600!

Turn off 4.5 and click apply.

Then turn on 3.5 and click apply

It shut work now. Ore it did for me (win8.1)
