can't change windows update settings even though I am the administrator

When I try to change the windows update settings, the options are greyed out and I get the message at the top "Some settings are managed by your system administrator."  However, I am the system administrator.  Creating another account and designating it the system administrator account does not help.

This was the only way I found to fix this:

Be very careful editing windows registry

For Windows Vista/7

Click Start and type regedit in the Search Programs and Files field. Then right-click on regedit in the programs list and select Run as Administrator.

Within the Registry Editor, navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU.

On the right side of the window, locate AUOptions and NoAutoUpdate. Delete both of these registry keys.

Reboot

You should now be able to edit Windows Update

I am having windows 7 SP1 ulti 64. After some windows security updates from all microsoft updates, suddenly, windows update settings faded away with the top line in Windows Update section saying :

"some settings are managed by your system administrator"

and so can't be changed now with selected as "check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them"

my laptop is in no domain and i am the only administrator. i went through all the advices in this thread but nothing could solve this problem. Now, i am not even able to edit registry ,as advised by favorites celexa . becoz

"there is no windows update at all" (as mfh2112 also replied on MAY 24th, 2015)

    Celexa said on March 25 , 2013

""Within the Registry Editor, navigate to:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU.

On the right side of the window, locate AUOptions and NoAutoUpdate. Delete both of these registry keys.

    Reboot

You should now be able to edit Windows Update""

    In addition,

my laptop stopped checking for windows updates , saying:

"windows update can't currently check for updates, becoz updates on this computer are controlled by your system administrator"

both malware scans were clear (mbam FREE ! & Microsoft Safety Scanner FREE !)

my system info, system and application logs are there on OneDrive (SkyDrive) and the link is as here :-

    http://1drv.ms/1L7bKa2

(for reference : last windows updates could be made on 08-06-15)

now anybody please help me with the two! i think both problems are related to each other as they are concurrent and same natured.. besides, i want to make it clear that changing windows update settings is not as big concern as the checking for windows updates and installing them is !!

    thanks in advance !
