One assumes you are being facetious as the unhelpful software is W8! ha ha ha
Where is "Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool"?
All the instructions I receive tell me to go to the "Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool", but when I click on the link, all it does is take me to forums and lists. Is there actually a "tool" that exists on this site, and if so, why doesn't clicking on the hyperlink take me there. I'm trying to figure out why my Wireless USB Adapter will not connect.

2013-07-07T12:34:34+00:00 Matt, if you had of read my earlier message, you would not have had to reply with the sarcasm. The tool was only reliable with XP and Vista and was totally unreliable with Windows 7, hence it was removed. You are not helping anyone with a reply like that.
Actually I finally found it buried in one of my on-site archives and it works perfectly on Win7. May I suggest an MVP to do the same and rediscover this very useful tool...

2013-08-07T15:04:07+00:00 Apparently it was gone for good, check this post on the TechNet forum about Internet Explorer: Microsoft Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool missing. There we find the following answer:
This tool seems to has been removed from this link. As for as I know, Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool isn't supported on Windows 7. A disclaimer on the tool's home page states it "won't produce accurate results" if run on anything other than Windows XP or Windows Vista PCs. Thank you for your understanding.

It is curious that Microsoft didn't update the help topic offering a link to a page that no longer works with Windows 7.

Since the tool is no longer available, does anyone know how I can enable Peer-to-Peer service so my network which is running two computers both with Windows 7, will work with Homegroup?

2013-09-30T15:37:30+00:00 One year after, Microsoft cannot keep track of their own tools, internet refactoring causes disruptions, CEOs change and old archives pay off, so as to remind us that rely on the cloud can bring you a bunch of vapour. Nevertheless, asking the same question over and over seems to bring back some reasoning afterall. Never give up, but...
REJOICE fellows because the tool is (sort of) back:
