More importantly than what happened to the tool, does anyone know how I can deal with the problem it was supposed to be for? My Windows 7 help says that some modems are not compatible with Windows 7 and the tool can check that.
Where is "Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool"?
All the instructions I receive tell me to go to the "Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool", but when I click on the link, all it does is take me to forums and lists. Is there actually a "tool" that exists on this site, and if so, why doesn't clicking on the hyperlink take me there. I'm trying to figure out why my Wireless USB Adapter will not connect.

2014-01-03T17:29:42+00:00 so we can't really use EasyConnect in Windows 8.1 on Surface 2? Why the remote assistance tool has been so difficult to use, when Teamviewer could do it so easily?

2013-09-30T15:37:30+00:00 One year after, Microsoft cannot keep track of their own tools, internet refactoring causes disruptions, CEOs change and old archives pay off, so as to remind us that rely on the cloud can bring you a bunch of vapour. Nevertheless, asking the same question over and over seems to bring back some reasoning afterall. Never give up, but...
REJOICE fellows because the tool is (sort of) back:

2013-09-30T04:47:23+00:00 Apparently it was gone for good, check this post on the TechNet forum about Internet Explorer: Microsoft Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool missing. There we find the following answer:
This tool seems to has been removed from this link. As for as I know, Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool isn't supported on Windows 7. A disclaimer on the tool's home page states it "won't produce accurate results" if run on anything other than Windows XP or Windows Vista PCs. Thank you for your understanding.

It is curious that Microsoft didn't update the help topic offering a link to a page that no longer works with Windows 7.
Since the tool is no longer available, does anyone know how I can enable Peer-to-Peer service so my network which is running two computers both with Windows 7, will work with Homegroup?
