can I use send to mail recipient with the mail app?

I think you're mistaken in saying you can just share any file. You can't because there's no native metro file explorer, so I can't just navigate to any file I want to and pull up the Share menu.

On that note however, you could easily download a 3rd party file explorer that allows sharing of files.

This issue that they're talking about is a bug though. In browsers like Opera, it detects that the PDF application is the default application, but won't open any PDFs Metro-side. Same issue here, where Windows Send-To detects that the default MAIL CLIENT is the Metro Mail application, however the Send-To(which uses the mail protocol), does not work. 

There's absolutely no reason it shouldn't work.

I agree completely. Windows 8 doesn't detect that Metro Mail is my default mail client? Ridiculous! This should be an easy fix for Microsoft.

If you read this thread completely, you will see that the "Metro Mail" app is not an email client, so you cannot use it as such.

Steve, I don't appreciate your remark about "reading the thread completely." I certainly read the thread. I want Windows Mail to function as the default email application in Windows 8. In case that was unclear, let me rephrase:

"The Windows Mail app doesn't support MAPI (Messaging Application Programming Interface)? Ridiculous! This should be an easy fix for Microsoft."

If you read this thread completely, you will see that the "Metro Mail" app is not an email client, so you cannot use it as such.

Oh right...I could've sworn I send and receive email on there..

I can send and receive email with a webbrowser.  That is all the mail app is doing.  It is not a client that has the various functions one would expect of a mail client, any more than the Surface devices and Windows phones are actually Windows computers.  They are dumbed-down devices just as is the mail app.
