Can't install a language pack

Hello,

When i install a language pack, after the download and at the end of the installation progress bar, it says:

The following updates were not installed:

French Language Pack - Windows 8 for x64-based Systems - (KB2607607) [fr-FR_LP]

And there is no information about the error(s).

What can i do ? Is there somewhere i could see a detailed log with possibly more information about errors that occured ?

    Same Problem Here.

    Wasted a whole day to solve this problem.

    What's MS doing?????

    It's been one year since you post this question and so many people are infected.

    Still waiting for solution.

    I have this same problem! Is there a solution? This seems like something which would be important. My machine is stuck in German. I am an American working in Germany who cannot get my system in English. I have tried many things on a few different threads all to no avail. 

    I will add that this is the second time I have encountered a problem which seems important but yet hopeless as it seems no one at Microsoft cares or even reads these threads.

    Same problem here!

    I just wasted 2 days trying to install the English language pack -.-

    I tried to install Russian LP, and it worked fine -.-

    The problem appeared after I refreshed my system. Before I had installed English language pack... I think it's the one of Windows updates which cause the problem.

    I refreshed my system and got the same problem now. Before I also had the English language pack installed.

    I've had the same problem with Windows 8 Pro.

    It was a laptop installed with Korean / Chinese / Japanese language packs.

    I reset everything to default US English and uninstalled Microsoft update KB2723161 (needed for PinYin).

    The original administrator signed up with a Microsoft account. Now this account has been turned into a normal user account and a local Windows account has been set up as the administrator.

    After having everything in English again, I cannot reinstall these language packs for any user, including the administrator. There are some suggestions on microsoft.com that if a language pack fails to install via the control panel, there's always the option to get the manual download of the language pack and see if that works.

    Now guess what, exactly the languages that I need are not available for manual download :(

    The Windows troubleshooting is of little help. Every time it says it fixes Windows updates but no difference. Cleaning out c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution manually has other bad effects, I've looked around and seen many suggestions but only 1 seems to work all the time: a full reinstall.

    We have other computers at the same location, same hardware, same software installed. The other computers have absolutely no problem with language packs so this all points to some kind of a corruption in the locally downloaded files.

    How difficult can it be to put an "apt-get clean" in Windows???

    This computer is 11000km (~7000 miles) away from me so I would kindly want to request a decent solution that doesn't require a Factory Reset or re-install.

    I'm also having this problem. I'm now using a UK keyboard as I bought the PC in Hong Kong and have returned home.

    MS are eons behind Google and Apple in terms of usability. If it wasn't the only OS that played most PC games I frankly wouldn't ever give them a penny.

    As I've finished writing this it seems to have worked, although of course I have to restart (another antiquated necessity). If it doesn't ultimately work I'll be back on here.
