Can't install a language pack

Hello,

When i install a language pack, after the download and at the end of the installation progress bar, it says:

The following updates were not installed:

French Language Pack - Windows 8 for x64-based Systems - (KB2607607) [fr-FR_LP]

And there is no information about the error(s).

What can i do ? Is there somewhere i could see a detailed log with possibly more information about errors that occured ?

    I managed to get the French pack in by 'refreshing' my computer (reinstalling Windows 8 but keeping files etc ) then IMMEDIATELY installing the language pack. Works now, but I have to reinstall all non Windows 8 applications. A great deal of work... I find it very hard to understand why MS have come up with no answer or even acknowledgement of the problem, but I don't think as some others have suggested that this is a conspiracy against some language combinations. Not a conspiracy, just a stuff-up.

    I do love my mac but there is no solid works ou saia for mac.

    Can confirm that only format C:/ and fresh re-install works. Then immediately install language packs and carefully watch not to get the update process interrupted or aborted... otherwise you will likely have to re-install yet again. (Don't ask. Just don't.) Also, if you have no SSD hard disk, run chkdsk to confirm your hard drive is not damaged. In my case formatting did not help, because my hard disk had bad sectors.

    And of course, if you can afford to, rather just go and buy a Mac. If one adds up the time fixing Windows, one probably will see that switching to Mac is a worthwhile investment [...]. Oh well.

    I had exactly the same problem, trying to install the Spanish language pack on a primary Dutch system.

    Then I did a factory reset and after passing the first Windows 8 setup steps, I directly went for the language pack, without checking for anything else (not even updates).

    Then it worked wonderful.

    So this method works, but I think for most people a factory reset is going a bit too far.

    So Microsoft should definitely come up with a more suitable solution.

    They obviously don't give a **** its 24 june and still no fix.

    FFS MICROSOFT I PAYED MONEY FIX YOUR **** OR I WILL GO BACK TO LINUX!
